Ever since she was a young girl, German photographer Wiebke Haas was fascinated with horses. As she grew older, Haas searched for a way to be around these majestic animals and managed to do so by becoming equine photographer.
She managed to build a name for herself in the world of equine photography thanks to her amazing eye and special connection with horses, with her works receiving wider recognition thanks to Sony World Photography Awards. In the 2018’s edition of this contest, Hass finished 3rd in the Wildlife & Natural World category thanks to her series of equine photographs titled “Horsestyle.”
According to Wiebke, getting the perfect portrait needs lots of things to come together, but the end result is worth it.
“The most important thing is to communicate clearly with the horse owner/rider and the assistants.” – she said. “The owner must know how to prepare the horse for a photo session. For the best results, we need a very shiny coat with a fluffy mane and tail.”
