]]> Every so often, we use animals in metaphors when we try to describe ourselves and other people.

For example, we say that someone is as greedy as a pig when their greed gets the best of them. But, for one Italian artist, he took the metaphor a little bit too seriously and decided to see what it would look like if we walked around looking like the animals that we so often compare ourselves to.

From pigs to donkeys, rabbits, lizards, and pretty much any other animal you can think of, Alessandro Gallo’s work is as amazing as it is freaky.

'Social Activist – Locust Swarm' Material: Stoneware, mixed media Dimensions: 13 in. h x 11 in. w x 16 in. length. 'There is no taxonomic distinction between locust and grasshopper species… Grasshoppers are usually solitary, but under certain circumstances become more abundant and change their behaviour and habits entering what is known as 'gregarious phase'… Swarming behaviour is a response to overcrowding. Increased tactile stimulation of the hind legs causes an increase in levels of serotonin. This causes the locust to change colour, eat much more, and breed much more easily.
