Illustrator Kerry Bell paid tribute to HBO’s hit show Game of Thrones with a series of illustrations showing GoT characters that represent a letter from the alphabet each. The drawings were done in style of writer and artist Edward Gorey and are basically a tribute to his ironically morbid alphabet book The Gashlycrumb Tinies.

Together, the illustrations form a song that begins with:

“A is for Arya, lethal and small,

B is for Bran. Things began with a fall.

C is for Cersei and her horrible ways,

D is for Dany — her children ablaze!

E is for Eddard and his runaway head.

F is for Freys, who drink til they’re dead.”

Working as a designer has its struggles, such as creative blocks that often come when you least need them. One artist found a way to work his way out of a creative block – by illustrating the letters of the alphabet and the numbers 0-9.

“I started using my Instagram to practice and train my creativity and imagination,” Pavel Nekoranec explains. “Every week I’m trying to find some free time to create some quick graphics or artwork, with no restrictions, or requirements.”

The project took him over a year. “It all started on March 3, 2017, when I created the letter “R” merged together with a couple of vintage rose illustrations and uploaded it to my Instagram account just for fun. It became quite popular and I continued to create other letters till I’ve finished the whole alphabet on June 22, 2018. I ended up creating and posting new letters every second week.”
