]]> A Doll Like Me is a project by Amy Jandrisevits who believes that “dolls should look like their owners AND dolls should be available in all colors, genders, and body types.”

This idea came about while she was working as a social assistant in pediatric oncology. She wanted every kid to have a toy to cuddle to because she believes in the healing power of play.

Her first creation was a limb difference doll for a little girl who wanted a doll that looks like her. She custom-made the dolls based on ethnicity, limb difference, and interests. She then made other dolls – with albinism, with prosthetic legs, with birthmarks and burn scars, and other disabilities to match those of their owners.

“I want to make these dolls be as similar to the child who will love them as I possibly can,” she wrote on Facebook.
