]]> Michael Alm is a Seattle-based mixed media sculptor who creates lifelike animal sculptures. Inspired by wildlife and anatomy, his work is about animal physiology and the presentation of the specimen itself.

His informative sculptures are based on scientific models and taxidermy dioramas and he spent much of his time researching about animal anatomy and reading biographies of the naturalists who have expanded this field.

He uses wood shavings, veneers, and carved elements as substitute for the fur, sinew and bone. The artist highlights elements that contribute to the movement of the animal, giving it a strong and delicate look.

Alm is also a furniture maker and he uses byproducts of his work as materials for his sculptures.
