Emmanuel Valtierra is a Texas-based illustrator with a huge love for history which influenced his projects. According to his personal website, Valtierra creates webcomics, and after some time, he adopted the Aztec culture codex style for some of his work, which brought him attention from the audience.

“My new series of webcomics is here,” the artist shared with Bored Pana. The tlatoani teaches us about how Aztecs used to live, everything from the point of view of the Aztec king (Tlatoani). Most of my art is related to this culture and this is my latest project so I hope you enjoy it.”

During his career, the artist has released a series of pop culture images, playing cards, and a book titled Codex Valtierra which won an award at the WorldCon 2018 in San Jose, California.
