Katie VanBlaricum, the founder of Insect Art, has a truly heartwarming mission; she is an expert at repairing butterfly wings. She creates jewelry from real insects, so restoring wings isn’t hard for her. She doesn’t usually do live butterflies, but the local zoo found out that she is an expert, so they began bringing her patients.

“It takes me less than 5 minutes to do the repair,” the artist told Bored Panda. “You have to work fast, to avoid stressing the butterfly out any more than necessary. I have a friend who works at a butterfly conservatory, and I have seen his ‘Frankenstein’ butterflies flying around there, so I knew it was possible. I asked him for advice, as well as consulting the internet.”

Her butterfly wing transplant was a success and the surgeon received more than 35 thousand likes, 33 thousand shares, and four thousand comments.
