Artist Colm Dillane, better known as KidSuper, recently unveiled a new painting that celebrates the rock band Dead & Company. The painting is currently being auctioned off, with a portion of the proceedings set to benefit the Dead Family Organizations, a collective of charitable projects endorsed by the band.

The painting, titled Touch of Color, is currently on view at the Las Vegas Sphere in Las Vegas, Nevada, as part of the immersive exhibition Dead Forever Experience. Dead & Company, consisting of surviving members of rock legends Grateful Dead, are currently putting the finishing touches on their months-long residency at the Sphere.

In creating the piece, KidSuper turned to surreal imagery and vibrant colors that have been long part of Grateful Dead’s visual identity. It features a skeleton sporting a crown of roses on its head and a paintbrush and palette in its hands.

The painting draws significant inspiration from the cover of 1971’s self-titled live album, often referred to as Skull and Roses. It also includes motifs from Grateful Dead’s iconic songs like “Fire on the Mountain” and “Bertha”.

The painting will remain up for auction until August 16th with an estimated value of $100,000.
