Deborah Halpern is an extraordinary mosaic artist and famous sculptor from Melbourne, Australia, well-known around the world for her whimsical and colorful public mosaic artworks.

As a child, she was mostly influenced by her parents and uncle who created art with ceramics and other materials. She has made bronze works, prints, paintings, and sculptures with written poems on them and has also successfully worked with glass. Specializing in mosaic art, ceramic art, and sculptures, as well as drawing inspiration by Picasso and Niki de Saint Phalle, she has produced amazing public sculptures and earned the respect of the creative community.

Angel and Ophelia are her most popular sculptures which decorate the bank of the River Yarra in Melbourne’s CBD and are well-known and loved by the inhabitants and visitors of the city.

Angel is a 10-meter-tall sculpture made from steel, concrete, and ceramic. It’s one extraordinary abstract sculpture of 16 images including animal symbols such as crocodiles, birds, angels, fish, and fantasy creatures.

Ophelia, a work inspired by Hamlet’s famous character full of both love and sadness, was chosen as the “Face of Melbourne.”

Deborah is very proud of her work and happy that she can make a positive contribution to her community by creating artworks that uplift and inspire.
