Fabian Oefner is a renowned Swiss artist known for his intriguing projects that combine scientific concepts with artistic expression and explore the connection “between time, space, and reality.” His works play with and challenge the viewer’s perception, reveal the inner workings of things, and result in visual masterpieces.

Oefner recently presented a new series of artworks called Volumen in which he set out to explore the boundaries of painting. Each piece is presented in the form of a resin cubicle that captures vibrant brushstrokes.

According to Oefner, he was trying to embrace the physicality of paint and transform its two-dimensional nature by lifting it into a 3D realm. His aim was to get viewers to reconsider the paint’s form and medium.

“I have always been fascinated by the textural quality of paintings. For me, experiencing works like de Kooning’s Door to the River or Pollock’s Lavender Mist has always been as much a tactile experience as a visual one. These paintings are almost like sculptures to me. What I am doing is removing the canvas entirely and lifting the paint into space, making its physicality completely tangible,” Oefner explained in an artist statement shared on his website.

While Swiss artist and photographer Fabian Oefner works in various media, he is arguably best known for his acclaimed “Disintegrating” series. In the series, Oefner showcases cars in a really unique way by dismantling them, taking a photo of each piece and then arranging it all into one amazing image.

For his latest entry in “Disintegrating” series, Oefner managed to get his hands on one of the most stunning cars ever produced, 1972 Lamborghini Miura SV. The artist spent two years working on this car, which is valued at $2 million and ended up taking more than 1,500 photos of Miura’s components.

The final product ended up showing Lamborgini in all its beauty, while also giving away an impression that the photo was captured at the moment when the car was in mid-explosion.
