]]> The film below shows the recreation of a section of a micromosaic table. Altough the tools and materials used in this recreation are modern, the principles of the micromosaic techniques have remained the same since 1730s.

Micromosaics are made of glass, which is made by heating sand and chemicals in a furnace. The chemicals used and the atmospheric conditions of the furnace determine the color of the glass. The glass is then cut into squares which could be used to make large scale mosaics. To make a micromosaic, these squares are melted again.
