]]> Hybrid fruits are becoming more and more popular. They tease us with their unusual looks and weird names, but they are actually very natural. These fruits aren’t genetically modified, but simply created by using traditional pollinating techniques between two varieties of the same species. This also happens in nature very often. This way you can have the best characteristics of both fruits and a unique taste to boot! Let’s look at some of the best and newest hybrid fruits:

Pluot

A mix of plums (70%) and apricots (30%). Since they both come from same genus, this crossing is quite easy to achieve. It has a high sugar level and tastes like plums, but has the texture of an apricot.

Pluot sind eine Kreuzung aus Japanische Pflaume und Aprikose ?? schon beim aufschneiden merkt man wie saaaftig sie sind ??die Schale ist dünn und fällt gar nicht so beim essen auf ? der Kern in der Frucht ist auch ganz klein. Und der Geschmack himmlisch lecker ???Das ist mittlerweile mein 4tes Päckchen was ich vernichtet habe?? aber einmal angefangen ?mag man gar nicht mehr aufhören zu essen??? ??‍♀?‍♂??Also Augen auf in der Obstabteilung?‍♂??‍♀??….. ach?? achtet darauf das die Pluot schön prall und glänzend sind?❤ Weich ist ein Zeichen das sie schon älter sind ?? Plumcot

This is also a mix between plums and apricots in different percentages. This is a first generation hybrid which was replaced by the pluot due to difficulties in transport and harvesting.

Pluerry

A combination between sweet cherries and plums.

Blood Lime

There are other blood fruits besides blood oranges. This mix between lime and red finger lime makes it sweeter than a traditional lime, but the inside looks like a blood orange.

Limequat

A mix of lime and kumquat makes a miniature orange with edible greenish skin. Often used in jams.
