]]> Josie Morway is a Providence-based self-taught artist that enjoys making bird portraits and is incredibly good at it. Her highly detailed works feature majestic birds surrounded by different motives including blossoming flowers, ferns and sometimes text in Latin.

According to Josie, one of her major inspiration is classic art.

“I like referencing religious icon paintings and other forms of ‘serious’ historic painting, but using animals and birds in the place of saints, etc.” – she told Colossal. “I’m going for the feeling of narrative realism, but working with a narrative that’s mysterious, missing some information, open to the viewer’s interpretation.”
