How can an artist best communicate what he sees from his point of view to the world? There are times when photography is not enough, since simply freezing a moment in time in the form of a photograph does not necessarily mean transmitting, with it, the myriad of overlapping sensations that a place, person or object evokes. For this reason, many great painters insisted on portraying landscapes and buildings according to their personal interpretation, conveying the emotional journey that they experienced with each stroke.

Meet Pietro Cataudella, a young student from Syracuse, who has taken realistic drawing to the next level by creating mind-blowing 3D sketches of beautiful historical buildings in Italy. In just a couple of hours, and using only pen and paper, the talented artist will faithfully reproduce what he sees, while adding his unique charming touch.

CityLiveSketch, his biggest art project which he began five years ago, represents a series of delightful photographs and drawings of both eye-catching urban designs and old architectural wonders in the Italian town of Marzamemi. To achieve the desired surreal effect, he blends 2D and 3D into one frame. His goal? To awaken your wanderlust, of course!

Take a look of his phenomenal drawings below.
