The historic Sacred Valley of the Incas is the home of an architectural masterpiece that unites nature, history, tradition and modern day needs in an innovative way that brings out the best of each. The construction includes a restaurant, a research laboratory dedicated to exploring the flourishing biodiversity of the Andes and a hub for experiments in local gastronomy.

The name of this Peruvian building is “Mil Centro” and it’s located in the Moray Archeological Complex at 3680 meters above sea level. Its ingenious architecture was intended to naturally blend into Moray’s ambiance and not take away from its beauty or significance, which it does wonderfully.

In order for the building to fit in perfectly within the valley, traditional techniques like stone carving and weaving with ichu fiber have been used.

In the spirit of preserving tradition, many locals were included in the project, including artisans who designed the stone entrance stairway. The amazing project is proof that natural materials can be wisely used in modern buildings to create beautiful architecture that pays respects to the nature surrounding it.

The restaurant had one specific request – tiles cannot be removed and replaced. The guys from the creative studio came up with a perfect solution. They decided to bring outside to the inside by photographing their neighborhood and printing out stickers to put on tiles.

The result is pretty creative and memorable and you can see the photos below. They even sell such tiles to anyone interested!
