He draws inspiration from the building’s architecture and surroundings. “It’s very important to interact with architecture,” Peeta shared with Insider. “Interacting with the geometry of the space is fundamental because every space is completely different.”
His murals often include fluid, rounded shapes that make it hard to imagine the wall is totally flat. It can take up to two weeks to complete a gigantic mural and requires large-scale equipment such as cherry pickers and industrial-quality paint.
Though his eye-catching murals don’t convey a particular message, Peeta hopes it will bring interesting, inspiring art to communities and cities around the world. “With public art, the work is visible whether [people] want it or not,” Peeta said. “It’s an exciting opportunity for me to create art in places where there’s people everywhere.”
