]]>In 2018, Wasterval started a project that is part of a scavenger hunt to connect the community and part way to honor the neighborhood he lives in.
Each week, Wasterval creates tiny paintings of landscapes found in Greenpoint. It might be a calming scene of the local park, a storefront, or a cityscape of Brooklyn. He then places them in a plastic egg and hides them in the most unexpected places, like inside traffic cones, behind posters, and around bike stations.
Wasterval will signal the start of the scavenger hunt on his social media and often provide clues that help people to spot them.
His scavenger hunts have been massively popular among locals, with more people joining in every time. Nowadays, it takes an average of half an hour for his tiny paintings to be discovered despite the artist becoming increasingly creative with the hiding spots.
