Artist Nadia Tolstoy definitely belongs to the second group, and the playful meanings of words have provided her inspiration for a successful series of artworks she regularly shares on her Instagram page, Surrealians.

Tolstoy deconstructs words like screwdriver, sweatpants, rabbit, and caterpillar and plays with their meaning to create amusing doodles.  Sometimes, the results are expected, but oftentimes, the results can be quite unusual and even surreal.

For example, the artist took the word rabbit and imagined it as a rabbit with the face of clown Pennywise from the horror franchise IT.

Additionally, Tolstoy also uses word puns as an added source of inspiration material for her pieces, and they are equally entertaining.
