As it turns out, that “stuff” would be illustrations and cartoons. “I thought that would be for TV, but I liked how immediate cartoons were,” he explains. “I could draw them and make my friends laugh.” As time passed, his drawing improved, catching up to his sense of humor.
Jump forward a decade later and Edler now runs his own illustration studio, Leillo, based in Brighton. Over the years he has collaborated with the best of the best, including publications and news outlets like The New Yorker, The New York Times, The Guardian, CNN, and Vanity Fair.
“I’m sure everyone is creative in some way,” says Edler. “But it’s a spectrum like anything. I think if you’re really creative, you will always feel a need to make stuff – whether that’s writing, drawing, making music or whatever. But to make good stuff, you need to spend a lot of time practicing – finding what you’re good and bad at.” His confident style and hand-drawn humor provide a well needed comic relief.

]]>Pavlou is best-known as the creator of a series of illustrations in which he transformed comic and cartoon characters into fashion models. As they all have a slight exaggeration and a silly tone, the artist wondered what would they look like in a more “adult style.” Batman, Lucky Luke, Marge Simpson, Wilma Flintstone, etc., they all have been turned into top models.
“We grew up with them, loved them, made them friends, and in some cases still enjoy their company,” the artist wrote on Bored Panda. “We have learned to recognize them immediately by their voice, some of their special features (big ears, funny noses, etc.), and even by their dress.”

“Now I’m a grown-up, I can make all my favorite characters do it! The enjoyable part of this project is to find two really different characters and to imagine what would be the result of their fusion. Which physical characteristic will get the upper hand? How will their colors blend together?”
The artist has almost 34 thousand followers on Instagram and they often participate in a fusion challenge by guessing the two characters that were combined in a drawing.

]]>Artist Miguel Vasquez from California is transforming animated characters into human-sized 3D figures. Don’t get your hopes up, however, because they aren’t as pretty as we’d like them to be.
While unbelievably realistic and even amusing, Vasquez’s creations ended up looking pretty creepy and disturbing according to some people.
“It’s so awesome seeing the reaction from fans and non-fans alike who express their love and disappointment of my renditions. I’m honestly overwhelmed by the amount of attention it has garnered. What was a simple fun Saturday sketch turned out viral in such an instant,” Vasquez wrote on his Instagram page.
Even though they may not be an epitome of beauty, Vasquez’s figures with all those fine details he added are definitely something different and exquisite.

“I really like drawing overly muscular characters,” – said Elena. “I don’t know if that’s obvious from my own characters or not. It allows me to give a lot of curvy features to a man without making them look feminine.”
Here are some of Elena’s works.
