Illustrator and cartoonist Leon Edler admits his biggest love is comedy. “I’m a comedy nerd and grew up loving everything from 50s radio comedy to modern sitcoms,” he told Sense of Creativity, mentioning names like Tony Hancock, Seinfeld, and Alan Partridge amongst his comedic icons.

“I wanted to make stuff that made people laugh,” says Edler. As it turns out, that “stuff” would be illustrations and cartoons. “I thought that would be for TV, but I liked how immediate cartoons were,” he explains. “I could draw them and make my friends laugh.” As time passed, his drawing improved, catching up to his sense of humor.

Jump forward a decade later and Edler now runs his own illustration studio, Leillo, based in Brighton. Over the years he has collaborated with the best of the best, including publications and news outlets like The New Yorker, The New York Times, The Guardian, CNN, and Vanity Fair.

“I’m sure everyone is creative in some way,” says Edler. “But it’s a spectrum like anything. I think if you’re really creative, you will always feel a need to make stuff – whether that’s writing, drawing, making music or whatever. But to make good stuff, you need to spend a lot of time practicing – finding what you’re good and bad at.” His confident style and hand-drawn humor provide a well needed comic relief.

Kostis Pavlou is a digital illustrator and graphic designer who has been painting since he was a little boy. While growing up, he also loved watching cartoons and reading comic books, and according to him, these characters are an integral part of our lives.

Pavlou is best-known as the creator of a series of illustrations in which he transformed comic and cartoon characters into fashion models. As they all have a slight exaggeration and a silly tone, the artist wondered what would they look like in a more “adult style.” Batman, Lucky Luke, Marge Simpson, Wilma Flintstone, etc., they all have been turned into top models.

“We grew up with them, loved them, made them friends, and in some cases still enjoy their company,” the artist wrote on Bored Panda. “We have learned to recognize them immediately by their voice, some of their special features (big ears, funny noses, etc.), and even by their dress.”

We really enjoyed browsing through his Instagram page and we believe that you will enjoy it, too. Follow him for future updates.

Artist looking to “bring to life” cartoon and animated characters isn’t anything new, but the way digital artist Omerika does it is really intriguing. She takes iconic scenes from movies and TV shows and replaces people in it with cartoon characters.

According to Omerika, the idea of her project is to “bring back nostalgic memories for some people” while also inspiring people who haven’t had a chance to watch some of these feature and series to do so.

Some examples of her work include replacing Andrew Lincoln’s character from Love Actually with Kristoff from Frozen and having Up’s Carl Fredricksen changing places with Forest Gump.

Omerika regularly shares her latest works on Instagram profile @onefairyfail. Check out some of this entertaining art below.

Once she started, Linda couldn’t stop from merging characters from different universes together and now she has an impressive gallery of amazing creations.

“As a DBZ fan, my brother and I tried a thousand times to make a choreography of the fusion when we were kids … In vain,” Linda told Bored Panda.

“Now I’m a grown-up, I can make all my favorite characters do it! The enjoyable part of this project is to find two really different characters and to imagine what would be the result of their fusion. Which physical characteristic will get the upper hand? How will their colors blend together?”

The artist has almost 34 thousand followers on Instagram and they often participate in a fusion challenge by guessing the two characters that were combined in a drawing.

If you ever dreamed of meeting your favorite cartoon character in person, this dream might actually turn into reality.

Artist Miguel Vasquez from California is transforming animated characters into human-sized 3D figures. Don’t get your hopes up, however, because they aren’t as pretty as we’d like them to be.

While unbelievably realistic and even amusing, Vasquez’s creations ended up looking pretty creepy and disturbing according to some people.

“It’s so awesome seeing the reaction from fans and non-fans alike who express their love and disappointment of my renditions. I’m honestly overwhelmed by the amount of attention it has garnered. What was a simple fun Saturday sketch turned out viral in such an instant,” Vasquez wrote on his Instagram page.

Even though they may not be an epitome of beauty, Vasquez’s figures with all those fine details he added are definitely something different and exquisite.

Summer ‘s right around the corner, and it’s a good time to be reminded about the importance of being well hydrated. When it comes to beverages, we all have our favorites.

Who doesn’t enjoy a good cold drink? Coca Cola and root beer are American classics, but throughout the world, there are other sodas that are consumed daily.

We know our sodas by their taste but have you ever wonder what would they’d be like if they were humans like us? Well, for this Korea-born artist who goes by the pseudonym Sillvi, this question turned into an artistic quest.

Sillvi recreated the most famous soft drink brands, turning them into adorable cartoon characters. They’re so unique and stylish that it would be cool to see them animated. Just an idea.

You have probably heard about #StyleChallenge, which challenges artists to draw cartoon characters in their own style. One of the artists who really nailed the challenge is NYC based, Elena Manetta.

Elena first draws the characters in their original style and then reimagines them by using her own style. The results turned out great.

“I really like drawing overly muscular characters,” – said Elena. “I don’t know if that’s obvious from my own characters or not. It allows me to give a lot of curvy features to a man without making them look feminine.”

Here are some of Elena’s works.
