Cat lovers always come up with creative ways to express their endless adoration for their pets, and that’s certainly the case with Tsoooki. This creative illustrator and designer will win you over with her cozy illustrations, and cats usually take center stage in her work.

Tsoooki’s illustrations are painted by hand in her home in Paris, where she lives with her adorable cat Soja. They’re inspired by nature, animals, nostalgia, and fantasy, and she’s hoping that everyone who sees them will be transported to a magical world where they can wander and wonder at the same time.

The name of her brand hails from the Hungarian word “cukor”, which can be translated as sugar, and its a homage to her heritage.

“The mother tongue of my great-grandmother was Hungarian and she used to greet all of her grandchildren with this adorable name.  This was also the name that was given to my very first stuffed animal doll… It holds such a sugary sweet connection to my Hungarian heritage, to my grandparents and my childhood,” she wrote on her official website.

There’s an aura of coziness surrounding each of Tsoooki’s illustrations, and they make it pretty clear that cats hold a special place in her heart. Most of her drawings show them living their best lives, doing everything from wearing cozy sweaters and scarves to having naps on window sills.

Illustrator Chet Phillips recently presented a deck of playing cards that is “purrfect” for your family nights, picnics, get-togethers, and more. Why? Because it features cat illustrations.

The Cat’s Meow playing card deck comes with 52 standard cards, two Joker cards, and four wild cards. Each card comes with a unique cat illustration, and you’ll find it quite hard to pick out your favorite one because they are all adorable.

The cat illustrations are inspired by pop culture, history, holidays, and more. You’ll encounter El Tigre cat, a feline in a tiger wrestling costume, Halloween cat, which is all ready for Trick or Treating, Frida Khalico, a cat inspired by famous painter Frida Kahlo, and Cat Herder, which is a cat dressed like a cowboy. How cool is that?

The standard Cat’s Meow playing card deck is currently available on Phillips’ Etsy shop. You can also pick up a special limited edition of the deck that comes with one of the original sketches.

“The Cat’s Meow playing card deck showcases 58 individual cat illustrations by Chet Phillips with custom card back art and a colorful tuck box. These plastic coated poker decks are purrfect for family game night,” Phillips explains.

When asked why she likes illustrating cats, artist Helen Garfield said that felines remind her of people and that her love for them began because she “recons they have got life figured out.” The UK-based illustrator began her cat-project back in early 2019 as a cat-themed gift shop.

“As I was settling into creating art more again, I decided to turn it into a space to share my own artwork and ideas. Along the way I have developed my art style and have enjoyed exploring this in new and interesting ways,” the artist wrote on her personal website. She added that with her artwork she wants to create a joyful experience and to bring people fun and positivity into their everyday life.

If you check out her gallery, you will see images of adorable cats created by hand, and finished digitally. She likes adding fun colors, brush textures, painterly effects and plants into her artwork.
