Severija Inčirauskaitė-Kriaunevičienė is a Lithuanian artist who is known for using cross-stitch embroidery on metal objects.

She transforms these unappealing objects into impressive objects of desirable interiors. From buckets and ladles to cars and buildings, this artist can do cross-stitch ornaments on any hard objects. Severija draws inspiration form her everyday surroundings. She likes making something extraordinary out of ordinary things.

As for embroidery, the artist uses mass patterns from various women’s Hobby magazines. “I try to bring art close to people, that’s why I use the popular craft techniques in professional art,” she said in an interview with Don’t Panic. “My embroidery is not décor for things. Every time embroidery appears on different objects it tells a different story, transmitting to the viewer a different message.”

Severija drills holes in the object and then uses cotton thread to embroider. The colors are mostly in accordance with the object color.

Her latest art project called “Water Lilies,” was installed in a public place of Lithuania’s capital Vilnius. It marks “the historic watering place of Vilnius and Vingriai spring, which for centuries were the vital artery of Vilnius city,” she wrote on Instagram.
