]]>Noel Cruz is a Filipino artist with a unique specialization – he repaints Barbie dolls as modern-day celebrities. He’s recreated scenes from live-action Beauty and the Beast featuring Emma Watson; turned a doll into a miniature version of Angelina Jolie’s Maleficent and even reimagined Princess Dianna as a doll.
Cruz’s interest in painting goes back to his childhood when he was fascinated by the idea of turning a blank canvas into a work of art. He’s been painting his whole life, but he started repainting Barbie dolls only ten years ago. He came across the field when his wife started collecting Barbies, and he wondered how it would be like to use the doll as his canvas.
Soon he developed his own special style and started repainting his dolls as famous Hollywood stars. While all Barbie dolls look the same on the shelf at the toy store, Cruz manages to reshape each one and give it the unique features of well-known actors. Each repainted doll is sold for about $1,500!
Luckily, Noel also shared his art on Instagram, so we still get a glimpse of his incredible works. Scroll down to check some out!

“Each doll has its own history and is one of a kind,” they explain. “It is fundamentally important for us to use decorative elements [and carving] that are unique for each doll.”

]]>Nathalie was into crocheting, knitting, and crafting since she “can remember” and came up with the idea to try her luck with handmade dolls while her youngest daughter had nap time. At first, she only made dolls for her kids and friends, but then decided to showcase some of them on social media at her son’s suggestion.
“I had no clue and no idea what to do so my son showed me how to post pictures so people would start seeing the things I make.” – Nathalie describes her early beginnings.
Since then, Nathalie’s works have captured the attention of parents all over the world who find them as perfect gifts for their kids especially since she also does “look-alike” dolls. She also creates dolls for children with special needs, something that she takes great pride in.
“I specialize in creating look-a-like dolls and make sure to capture every one’s specific spirit and character, taking extra care when I create dolls for children with special needs because I know this will be the only time they will find a doll that looks just like them.” – she explains.
