]]>Recently, when she was inspecting the birdhouses, she noticed a mother wood duck was moving her egg from one of the boxes and flew toward this other box.
“We believe that the duck moved the egg because that nest had been raided – there were eggshells at the bottom of the pine tree where the box is. A day or so after we saw that a screech owl moved into that box,” Wolf told Bored Panda.
One month later, the duckling appeared in the box with the owl. “Seeing the owl with the duckling was honestly the most amazing thing I’ve ever seen in my life! It’s still hard to believe.”
“I’m sure the owl hatched the duck egg because she was in the box with it for a whole month,” she continued.
Wolf got concerned about the safety of the baby duck since she knows that owls are naturally predators so she decided to contact a bird expert to take care of it. But the duckling jumped out of the nest box and ran away to a nearby pond after she tried to capture it. She hasn’t seen the duckling ever since. The pond nearby is very hidden and on their neighbor’s private property.

]]>She bought a “balut” in a Vietnamese restaurant in Puchong and instead of eating it, she decided to make it her pet. Balut is a developing duck embryo that is boiled and eaten from the shell. It originated from the Philippines and is a popular street food in many Southeast Asian countries.
Driven by curiosity, Lim hatch the egg by building a makeshift incubator from a Styrofoam box with heat lamps. Two weeks later, a little duckling was born and she instantly fell in love with the duckling and she named her Bibit.
Lim and her pet were inseparable, doing things together like watching TV, reading books, or just playing around the house. “Ducks make wonderful companions. My Bibit is charming and attentive. I hope more people realize how much fun it is to have a duck as a pet,” Lim said.
