Using ordinary buildings, Peeta creates optical illusion murals designed with the location in mind and created, arguably, to mess with the minds of anyone who lays eyes on them.
The Venice-based artist’s work is truly captivating, to say the least.
Once he’s done working his magic on the walls, the structures transform into something completely different. From something bland, they end up becoming twisted versions of themselves, looking more like giant abstract sculptures than the boring and dull buildings that they previously used to be.

]]>Using an artistic technique called anamorphosis, his creations give the illusion that the flat objects portrayed are three-dimensional. He draws inspiration from the building’s architecture and surroundings. “It’s very important to interact with architecture,” Peeta shared with Insider. “Interacting with the geometry of the space is fundamental because every space is completely different.”
His murals often include fluid, rounded shapes that make it hard to imagine the wall is totally flat. It can take up to two weeks to complete a gigantic mural and requires large-scale equipment such as cherry pickers and industrial-quality paint.
Though his eye-catching murals don’t convey a particular message, Peeta hopes it will bring interesting, inspiring art to communities and cities around the world. “With public art, the work is visible whether [people] want it or not,” Peeta said. “It’s an exciting opportunity for me to create art in places where there’s people everywhere.”
