]]>Veliz is a talented porcelain artist from Santiago, Chile, who usually works with cold porcelain clay. Her work is mostly inspired by Pixar and Disney classics, and a single look at her Instagram page will immediately tell you which movie holds a special place in her heart.
The majority of Veliz’s creations are inspired by different motifs from the beloved movie Up, which came out in 2009, won two Oscars, and inspired several short films. It chronicled the journey of a grumpy widower Carl, who decides to keep a promise to his late wife Ellie after her passing and embark on a trip to Paradise Falls they’ve always dreamed of.
Veliz’s porcelain figurines are inspired by some of the most iconic motifs from the film, including Carl’s house with countless colorful balloons tied to it. It’s her signature product, but she also made figurines of Carl and Ellie at different ages, along with several other Up characters, including Russell and Dug.

]]>In a most recent promotional campaign, Airbnb is offering vacationers from all over the world an opportunity to book a stay in a number of properties inspired by “music, film, television, art, and sports.” These bookings can be found in a new Icons category offered on Airbnb’s platform.
“Icons take you inside worlds that only existed in your imagination – until now,” Airbnb co-founder Brian Chesky said. “As life becomes increasingly digital, we’re focused on bringing more magic into the real world. With Icons, we’ve created the most extraordinary experiences on Earth.”
For example, the company created a real-life replica of the Up house in Abiquiu, New Mexico, and it matches the movie version to the slightest details, including the balloons and its floating ability. The Purple Rain mansion in Minneapolis, Minnesota, is being opened to the public for the first time as part of the campaign.
Additionally, Icons properties will include a VIP experience with comedian Kevin Hart, a living room session with rapper Doja Cat, an overnight gaming experience with TikTok sensation Khaby Lame, a mansion from X-Men ’97, and headquarters from Pixar’s Inside Out 2, among others.
The vacationers will be able to make a request on Airbnb for these properties but just a limited number of requests will be approved via a lottery system.
