You Can Now Book the “Up” House and a “Purple Rain” Mansion on Airbnb

Have you ever fantasized about spending a night in the flying house from Pixar’s animated hit Up or exploring the mansion from Prince’s rock musical Purple Rain? Well, now you can, thanks to vacation rental company Airbnb.

In a most recent promotional campaign, Airbnb is offering vacationers from all over the world an opportunity to book a stay in a number of properties inspired by “music, film, television, art, and sports.” These bookings can be found in a new Icons category offered on Airbnb’s platform.

“Icons take you inside worlds that only existed in your imagination – until now,” Airbnb co-founder Brian Chesky said. “As life becomes increasingly digital, we’re focused on bringing more magic into the real world. With Icons, we’ve created the most extraordinary experiences on Earth.”

For example, the company created a real-life replica of the Up house in Abiquiu, New Mexico, and it matches the movie version to the slightest details, including the balloons and its floating ability. The Purple Rain mansion in Minneapolis, Minnesota, is being opened to the public for the first time as part of the campaign.

Additionally, Icons properties will include a VIP experience with comedian Kevin Hart, a living room session with rapper Doja Cat, an overnight gaming experience with TikTok sensation Khaby Lame, a mansion from X-Men ’97, and headquarters from Pixar’s Inside Out 2, among others.

The vacationers will be able to make a request on Airbnb for these properties but just a limited number of requests will be approved via a lottery system.
