]]>With meticulous attention to detail, the artist stitches together flower gardens, fountains, large patches of greenery, waterways, crop circles, and pathways, among others, to form captivating depictions of green spaces observed from above.
According to Rose Richards, she sources the inspiration for her works in the beauty of the countryside found in her native region of Devon.
“In living in the countryside in a place of natural beauty, I am surrounded by inspiration for my pieces in the endless fields and meadows, lush forests, winding rivers and reaching moorland,” Rose Richards explains on her website. “ … In these idealized scenes I try to express a nostalgia that is both comforting and bittersweet, bringing back rose-tinted memories of simpler days past.”
Rose Richards initially started creating embroidery landscapes as a hobby. However, it didn’t take long for her to fall in love with the craft and dedicate herself to it full-time. She now has a big social media following, and her works have become sought-after among embroidery enthusiasts.

]]>“I pulled some nice blues and greens out of my grandmother’s old embroidery tin and had my first go at an embroidery landscape in October 2018,” Richards told Colossal.
Her artwork is greatly inspired by nature and it shows cropped fields, large areas with fresh blooming flowers or mystical green woods.
“In living in a rural area with woods, fields, and rivers, and even near the ocean, I often take inspiration from the abundance of nature around. I especially enjoy doing coastal and ocean landscapes.”
Richards says she recently started embroidering aerial tropical island pieces, as she developed a great love for tropical marine biology as a biology student.
