“We have come to see our planet as a mine to extract the resources we need to maintain our extravagant life-styles, and as a dumping station for our toxic waste products,” she says. “I believe, however, to secure a “habitat” for future generations (of our own species as well as others) it is essential that we tune ourselves in with nature and re-gain greater awareness of our planet, understand it better and take better stewardship of it.”

Her art examines urban and natural environments through exploration and research. Her work process includes looking at indigenous as well as ancient cultures, whose life philosophies perceive mankind as an integrated part of nature, rather than attempting to dominate over it.

“I believe that through the means of art it is possible to point out the importance of environmental soundness – through speaking to emotion and passion for nature, and through unlocking an ancient sense of freedom and awe,” she explains.

Winter wear doesn’t have to be dull and uninspiring. With more layering options, more textures, and lots more fabric – you have no excuse to step up your winter game! Here are three exciting brands to follow this season (thank us later).

Rains

It all started with a basic poncho. But a season later, rainwear fashion brand, Rains, launched a full collection of waterproof apparel, which included bags and accessories. Headquartered in Denmark, a Scandinavian undertone of simplicity is constant in their aesthetic, with their collections provide a unique blend of revitalized designs and original rainwear solutions. All designed to withstand the stormiest of weather. Oh, and they’re also undeniably cool.

Nodaleto

Julia Toledano of Nodaleto is clearly inspired by ’70s aesthetics. Known for her iconic footwear, her boots were well received during Paris FW19 fashion week, making her brand well sought after. Based between Paris and Los Angeles, her studio sources its materials from Venice. The leathers are varnished, aged, and the architectural lines voluntarily anchored.

“Nodaleto is the result of what I am, the aesthetic I like, what I was dreaming of wearing as a shoe addict,” said Toledano in an interview with Flaunt. “My family heritage inspired the brand itself in a global aspect. Andalusia inspired the color of the brand, Tangerine, which I used in patent leather in my collection… between red and orange, love and happiness. For the minimalism aspect of the shoes, I like quality fabrics and architectural lines.”

Since 2012, fashion brand Rains has set out to rethink quality rainwear. Based on an initiative to reinterpret the traditional rubber raincoat in a novel way, Rains launched with just one product: a poncho. The season after, Rains launched with a full collection of waterproof apparel, bags, and accessories. Each collection since provides a mix between revitalized designs from rainwear archives and original rainwear solutions.

Co-founders Daniel Brix and Philip Lotko met each other while studying at Denmark’s TEKO Design School. Influenced by their Scandinavian heritage, their brand practices an uncompromising approach to simplicity that is as equally rooted in functionality as it is in relevance.

“Our product DNA is classic but innovative and we are always searching for new ways of developing the brand – that’s our constant motivation and inspiration,” said Lotko in an interview with Flaunt. “The Scandinavian design DNA is in almost everything we do – that’s why keeping designs simple and functional is key for us.”

Headquartered in Denmark, a Scandinavian undertone of simplicity remains constant in the Rains aesthetic, yet each product is carefully considered for the global customer. Their apparel, bags, and accessories are designed to withstand the stormiest of weather, all while speaking to the current tendencies of today.

Check out some of their designs in the gallery below.

There are a lot of different places on our planets and many don’t get to experience all four seasons. In Arizona, for example, it rarely snows, but when it does, it’s truly magical.

The snow has covered the usually dry Sonoran desert and transformed it into a proper winter wonderland. Locals and visitors cant’ get enough it so there are many photos on the internet these days. On them, we can see gorgeous scenes from the Grand Canyon and the Sonoran desert that look out of this world.

The cold period didn’t last long and the temperatures were back where they usually are this time of year.

Below are some photos and videos of this unique sight.

Richard Savoie is a Canadian painter who captures the beauty of winter through his work of art.

Looking at his paintings, we have to agree that winter is the most wonderful time of the year. In addition, watching the images brings the Christmas spirit into our lives. Everything looks magical with its white thick layer of snow. Savoie did an excellent job in showing the pristine beauty of wintertime, even the little details were captured in his drawings.
