Home Alone is one of the most iconic movies ever. Despite being released more than 30 years ago, it continues to fascinate people and makes them pick apart its memorable moments. For example, one TikTok user recently decided to calculate how much Kevin McCallister’s grocery list would cost today.

In one scene, Kevin, after being left home alone, pays a visit to the grocery store and makes a big purchase that consists of a half-gallon of milk, a half-gallon of orange juice, a microwavable dinner, frozen macaroni and cheese, a whole loaf of bread, Snuggle dryer sheets, Tide detergent, saran wrap, toilet paper, and a package of toy army soldiers. He ends up paying $19.83 for the entire grocery haul after using a coupon that gave him $1 off on the orange juice.

In a viral video shared on his profile, TikToker @sellitlikelyons concluded that in order to buy all the items from Kevin’s grocery list, one would have to spend $63.73. This represents a whooping increase of 248% from 1990 to 2023.

The price comparison stunned a lot of social media users, who rushed to the comments section to express their disbelief.

“$100 bill is the new $20 bill,” one user wrote.

Another user also pointed out that today’s price isn’t just a result of inflation.

“For reference, $19.83 in 1990 would be equal to about $46.68 today. So it’s not just inflation. Things are way too expensive now,” they commented.

The Barbie movie, based on Mattel’s iconic doll toys of the same name, has taken the world by storm in recent weeks. The Greta Gerwig-directed feature received positive reviews from critics and already surpassed $1 billion in earnings at the box office.

While Barbie (Margot Robbie) and Ken (Ryan Gosling) understandably got the biggest spotlight, one unusual character ended up stealing the hearts of the moviegoers: Weird Barbie played by Kate McKinnon. However, most of them soon discovered that Weird Barbie was specifically written for the movie, so there was no toy they could buy.

Mattel now decided to respond to the fan demand and release a Weird Barbie doll that looks just like McKinnon’s character in the movie. It comes with signature short hair and face paint, a pink dress with colorful artwork and puffy sleeves, and green snakeskin boots. The doll will also have flexible joints, so you will be able to recreate the famous splits from the movie.

The Weird Barbie doll is currently available for pre-order on Mattel’s official website and comes with a price tag of $50. According to the website, the orders will be shipped “on or before” May 31, 2024. That might seem like a long wait, but something tells us that it will be well worth it.

Reimagining popular movies and TV shows in the style of legendary director Wes Anderson with the help of artificial intelligence has become quite popular in recent months.

As it turns out, the AI does a great job in taking key characteristics of Anderson’s works, like his use of specific color pallets, ubiquitous symmetry, and narration, and applying them to other cinematic works. And we are all here for it despite the fact that the director himself might not like it as much, according to his recent statements.

After various creatives and AI enthusiasts previously turned Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, and even The Godfather into Anderson-directed features, the YouTube channel Artsy Algorithm now decided to do the same with the super-popular HBO series Succession.

Artsy Algorithm’s project is quite interesting since it actually meshes together Succession and Anderson’s comedy-drama The Royal Tenenbaums. And if you watched both, you know this makes quite a lot of sense despite their obvious tone differences. Both are about dysfunctional families with a lot of similarities between the primary protagonists.

Fittingly, Artsy Algorithm’s mashup between Succession and The Royal Tenenbaums is titled The Royal Roys. Check out the trailer for it below.

His job is to plan and supervise daily film production operations and to keep in touch with every single department on set, so he sees and hears a lot of interesting stuff.

It’s a bit difficult to be truly impressed by cakes that draw inspiration from our favorite cartoons since you can find so many that look really amazing. That’s not stopping one Latvian cake maker from going down this road – and creating something extraordinary along the way.

Maria, who’s based in Salaspils, Latvia, is the mastermind behind Instagram page @caramel.patisserie which has 65,000 followers and counting. The cake toppers on her cakes look so realistic that we wouldn’t judge you if you thought they’re 3D models from your favorite Disney and Pixar movies.

Moomins, Winnie-the-Pooh, and Minions are only some of the animated characters that Maria seems to adore – or at least her clients do so since her birthday cakes happen to be very popular with kids for obvious reasons.

Even when she’s not making cakes inspired by cartoons, Maria seems to enjoy making animal-shaped cake toppers the most. Teddy bears and unicorns have a special place in her heart, but you’ll find many other adorable creations on her viral Instagram page.

Netflix ushered a new era for teen rom-com with To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before two years ago, and its sequel is finally here. P.S. I Still Love You immediately became a huge hit, but it also divided the fans of the franchise because Lara Jean had two love interests to choose from this time around.

Fans of the first movie really wanted her relationship with Peter Kavinsky to work out, but some of them changed their mind when the second movie introduced a new character – John Ambrose, her childhood friend and a recipient of one of her infamous love letters.

To All the Boys fans immediately started a huge debate online about who’s more worthy of Lara Jean’s love, and Team Peter and Team John Ambrose formed and started laying out their arguments why one is better than the other.

It’s Team Edward vs. Team Jacob all over again, and no Buzzfeed personality quiz can solve this new viral dilemma. Even Lana Condor, who plays Lara Jean, admitted the whole thing keeps her up at night, but she’s Team Peter because she believes he and Lara Jean truly challenge each other.

To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You started streaming on Netflix on February 12th, so you can watch it right away and decided which team you’re on.

Despite pretty amazing reviews and great ensemble cast, the Harley Quinn movie Birds of Prey has been struggling at the box office, but Twitter users are having none of that. They started a viral hashtag in support of this empowering movie.

#ReasonsToSupportBoP started trending on Twitter after a user by the name @Mikey_Talks posted a viral list of reasons to go see this movie. The fact that this project has a diverse female ensemble, both in front and behind the camera, was one of his main reasons to recommend it to other people.

Other Twitter users pointed out a long list of other reasons, including the film’s incredible cinematography, amazing action sequences, the chemistry between the leads, and the fact that Margot Robbie worked really hard to give us a Harley Quinn movie that does justice to this character.

Birds of Prey premiered on February 7th, to overwhelmingly positive reviews, but many experts described it as a box office failure since it marked the lowest opening for a DC film in a decade.

Despite the fact it isn’t the huge commercial success that the studio expected, this film already earned back its budget and received better reviews than the majority of previously released DC films.

Maxine The Fluffy Corgi is an adorable corgi based in New York that has been something of a social media star in the past few years. Besides being a fluffy ball of fur, Maxine is also known for occasionally invading the posters of famous movies and making it all about herself.

Ok, actually it’s her owners Bryan Reisberg and Alex Garyn, big movie aficionados, who make it all about Maxine, but you can’t blame them. Maxine looks natural as a big movie star, and it would be a shame to hide this fact from the world.

The duo not only photoshops the cute puppy into posters but also change the titles in order to put Maxine in the center of the attention. They did the same thing to commemorate this year’s Academy Awards.

Maxine found her way into the posters for Joker and Ford v Ferrari, while Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and Parasite became Once Upon a Time in Fluffywood and Paracorg.
