]]>Khoudia’s childhood wasn’t easy. Although her skin tone is quite common in Senegal, she was still teased for it. She was told that she was ugly, and could never be considered beautiful.
But she refused to listen. She fought to be accepted and loved and had the support and encouragement of her friends and family. Later she learned to see her skin for what it is – a unique feature that should be celebrated, not mocked.
Slowly, others around her started seeing what she saw. One day, when she was in high school in Paris, a photographer asked to snap her photo and offered her a path into the modeling world. At first, she declined the offer – she was still in high school, and her education was too important to her. She didn’t know anything about modeling and was afraid to fail. Luckily, her friends had convinced her to give it a shot – and she went for it.
It was soon clear that she was going to be huge in the fashion world. She had it took to be a model – self-discipline, willingness to learn and above all – astonishing beauty.
Today Khoudia is a veteran model no one teases anymore, but she hasn’t forgotten where she came from. She uses her new platform to inspire young girls to celebrate their beauty, no matter the skin tone.

]]>Juno describes herself as a glamorous alien woman who crash-landed on earth in the ’60s and has been trying to fit in. She paints her face in shades of blue and purple with large, shiny lips, wears huge blond wigs and will not be caught dead without her signature, 60’s style shades.
In real life, Juno is a trans woman who’s in love with drag, dressing up, and 60s fashion. She loves to exaggerate makeup and clothes since she was young, and her first big inspiration was the Joker, the comic book villain with the blue complexion and big, terrifying smile.
One day, she decided to dress up as the Joker for the party, and while her costume wasn’t very good, it was her first time trying to paint her skin blue. She loved it so much, that she’s been painting it blue or purple ever since.
Juno has been living as an alien woman from the sixties ever since. She’s also a performance artist and a sculptor, who makes tiny sculptures of herself in Fimo clay. But her alien persona isn’t just a joke. She walks around in her high heels and blue face to celebrate being different, and to show that you don’t have to look like everybody else to be beautiful.

]]>“When I think of my style I’m sure it’s quite… happy!” she relayed in an interview with I Love Illustration. “I use bright colors of markers which I buy in every place of the world I visit and my favorite Canson paper. I turn on nice music, create a really nice atmosphere and I draw. Nowadays I also help myself with an Ipad, where I plan my work, make sketches.”
It’s perhaps this sense of optimism that has garnered the attention of brands like Marc Jacobs and Grazia Germany, which have shared her illustrations on their social media platforms. Pawelczyk has also collaborated with BIZUU, which has printed some of her nonchalant girls on t-shirts, blouses, and dresses.
“What I love the most about my job is that every project is different,” she says. “One day I draw for magazines, next day I focus on the illustrations for campaigns, another day I search for inspiration for the 20/30 meters big illustration which is going to stand in the center of one of the biggest cities in Europe. This is quite crazy and I love it. I also love the fact that I can work remotely. I choose the place where I feel comfortable – it can be my studio, a beach in Sri Lanka or an Airbnb in Gdańsk. I love that freedom my work gives me.”

]]>Moving to New-York in 2013 at the age of 19, with barely any English, she studied art and fashion before launching her own YouTube channel, dedicated to the art of makeup. It wasn’t long before her makeup career skyrocketed, and in 2017 she was crowned the global beauty director for Estée Lauder.
“Makeup is actually not as superficial as some might assume,” Violette said in an interview with Inside Out magazine. “On the contrary, there is a very deep psychological connotation to it. It is a tool that impacts who and what we see of ourselves in the mirror.”
Nowadays, she shares her makeup hacks on her Instagram page (in addition to her YouTube channel), where she has amassed more than 300 thousand dedicated followers. Check out some of her tutorials below and see some examples for her eye-catching (albeit minimal) makeup looks.

]]>The post Mirror Mirror On The Wall, Who Is The Most Beautiful Girl In The World? appeared first on PlayJunkie.
]]>Scientists from Britain recently declared that they found the most beautiful woman in the world. Florence Colgate is the aforementioned woman, and she lives in a small British town. How did these scientists decide that she was the fairest in all the land? Keep reading to find out!
Symmetry is something we might not specifically notice when observing someone, but scientists say that we subconsciously find people more attractive when they have more symmetrical features. That was the science used to determine that Colgate has an almost perfect face.
The above picture of Matt Damon demonstrates a more asymmetrical face on the left as it’s transformed into a more symmetrical face on the right. Scientists claim that the photo on the right would be more pleasing to the eye of most people.
From a small town and a loving family, Florence has humble origins. She currently works in a quaint local fish bar part-time, and she hasn’t let her recent fame go to her head.
It was more curiosity than anything that led her to submit a photo for a competition to find the “most beautiful face in Britain.” She had to submit a picture of herself with no makeup which is hardly an issue for her as she fully believes in natural beauty. Florence’s friends and family were the main reason she entered in the first place as they adamantly suggested that she enter in the competition.
There were some ground rules for this competition. No plastic surgery and no enhancements of any kind would be allowed for participants. The goal was simply to find the most beautiful, natural face in Britain.
Participants were judged on some specific standards. Studies have indicated that the width of the face from ear to ear should measure roughly 46%, and Florence checks in at 44%. The distance between Florence’s eyes and mouth measure out to 32.8%, and the perfect standard is 33.3%.
Although some people might think that this competition is about shame and promoting an arbitrary standard of beauty, Florence believes that the competition was only meant to promote natural beauty amongst women and to encourage them to feel comfortable in their own skin.
“Women should not have to feel that they have to wear makeup; I hope people will look at me and think they don’t need to,” said Florence. “I’m very happy with the way I look and I would never have any plastic surgery or botox.”
In a world that’s obsessed with artificially enhancing beauty as much as possible, focusing on natural beauty is a refreshing viewpoint. Florence thinks that the role models that women have in entertainment today are encouraging “fake” beauty, and she hopes to be an example of being oneself and naturally beautiful.
What do you think? Did this “find the face” competition have a noble goal or was it simply a shallow attempt to further promote the beautiful? Let us know in the comments, and make sure to share the story with your family and friends!
