Natalie Portman delivered one of the most talked-about fashion moments at this year’s Oscars, but not only because her dress looked amazing. It also featured one sneaky detail – the names of female directors who delivered exceptional work past year.

The Black Swan actress hit the red carpet in a gorgeous black gown by Dior with stunning gold embroidery, but a closer look at her gown revealed there so much more to it than meets the eye.

The dress came with a matching cape that featured custom stitched names of directors Lorene Scafaria (Hustlers), Lulu Wang (The Farewell), Greta Gerwig (Little Women), Mati Diop (Atlantics), Marielle Heller (A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood), Melina Matsoukas (Queen & Slim), Alma Har’el (Honey Boy), and Céline Sciamma (Portrait of a Lady on Fire).

None of them received Academy Award nominations for directing this year, but Portman decided to celebrate them because she “wanted to recognize the women who were not recognized for their incredible work this year in a subtle way.”

Not all heroes wear capes, but Natalie Portman does and she used it to send a really powerful message and support female filmmakers from all around the world.

From Marriage Story to Joker and Little Women, the artist began illustrating movies as Oscar statues almost a decade ago.

“For seven years I have worked on a personal project of illustrating all the Best Picture nominees at the Oscars for the upcoming year. Each film is portrayed by the gold statue in a costume and elements from the film.”

You can find all nine movies on his Instagram account where he usually shares his creations. You can also take a look at his other social media accounts like Twitter or follow him on his personal website for future updates.

To celebrate this year’s Oscars, he made a series of posters representing the films that are in the run for the Oscar for best film. The posters are made in a dark, mysterious tone, and the main characters are placed as golden Figurines.

“The art of telling a story of a film or a song through images is absolutely amazing and fulfilling, a constant challenge, and an expression of my love for all those forms of art”, the artist told Bored Panda and added that his love for art began as young child and that through the years he continued developing his technical skills in digital art and illustration.

You can see his posters for Joker, Little Woman, Parasite, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and other nominees on his Instagram account called Dark Design Pt.
