]]>Having a keen interest in art from a very young age, Idoko experimented with various mediums over the years. However, it was pyrography that caught his attention the most and allowed him to explore his creativity and bring his imagination to life.
Idoko developed his own techniques that helped him bring out his vision. This includes a pioneering technique he calls pyro-fusionism, which sees the artist combine acrylic paint with pyrography.
Idoko’s intriguing creations have rightfully captured the attention of the art world and allowed him to exhibit his portraits in the United States, UK, and Italy among others. He also received several recognitions, including the Artnation People’s Choice Award in 2022.
“This art is my vehicle, carrying forth my voice, weaving tales of resilience and vulnerability, and celebrating the extraordinary beauty nestled within the ordinary,” Idoko explains in his artist’s statement. “It invites you to pause, to reflect, and to discover the quiet pleasure that resides within the vibrant tapestry of our shared human experience.”

]]>For those of you unfamiliar with pyrography, this is the art of decorating wood or other objects using burn marks. The burn marks are achieved using tools for controlled application of heat.
Through her pyrography artworks, Rebecca usually depicts landscapes and scenes from nature while also trying to replicate some of the local scenery from her native state of Vermont. Besides looking great, her works also have real-life applications as she makes wooden bowls, spoons, and other cutlery.
