Roos Heuvelman is a 22-year-old illustrator and visual designer from The Netherlands “who translates your ideas and concepts into images with a meaningful message.” Although she received a Bachelor’s degree in Communication and Multimedia Design, she has a passion for illustrating.

She depicts female figures using a bright and colorful palette. She currently has over 5,000 Instagram followers and hopes that with her illustrations she’ll make women and girls confident and true to themselves.

“I usually start with a simple sketch and put together a color palette. Sometimes I immediately start coloring shapes, and I automatically see what happens,” she shared in an interview for Ballpit. “I like drawing characters the most, so I usually start with the character and then come up with a background later.”

Just like many of her colleagues, Heuvelman likes creating illustrations digitally. As she explains, she likes it because she can correct any mistakes and use various textures and effects.

Check out the gallery below to see the beautiful artwork this Dutch artist creates. Don’t forget to follow her on social media for more images. Take a look at her website, as well, because she’s currently having a sale on her prints.

“Art plays a very big part of my life. It’s what I wake up to and go to bed with,” artist Lisa den Teuling says about her passion for art. Inspired by everything that surrounds her, she creates illustrations based on women, animals, and nature.

“I always start with a certain subject and create a mindmap around it. I do some word associations and create a mood board and color scheme. The first part of this process is mainly intuitive. After this, I start connecting the dots and I sketch a few ideas, of which I work out one of them. Which will then become the final piece,” the visual concept developer, who is also the owner of Studio Lisa based in The Netherlands said in an interview for Ballpit and added that she uses mixed media when creating her illustrations. However, she has recently become obsessed with digital art.

Be your own queen👑 – I had the most interesting encounter with an older lady a couple of weeks ago. She stopped in the street and started to talk to me. She talked about my hair, how much she liked it and how she used to have hair until her ankles. And how she used to love to float on the water with her long hair surrounding her. – The conversation started very random. She then asked me how old I thought she was and told me she was 86. Only 14 years from being 100 years old, she told me. ‘You can’t tell.’ I said. ‘That’s why I tell everyone, it makes me feel young’, she said and smiled. She took of her glasses, she had these big purple sunglasses. And underneath these glasses where the most piercing blue eyes I have ever seen. – She then got serious and told me something along the lines of: ‘You are going to have a lot of obstacles in your life, everyone does. But the most important thing is to stay positive. And believe in yourself. Whatever people think or say about you, you should be your own queen!’ – Before I could thank her she walked away and waved and said ‘ciao!’ – I was left completely startled but felt very inspired. Such a random encounter, but such an important message. – When I got home I immediately started to draw. I had to create an illustration about this woman, the message and the situation. – I also created a video whilst creating this illustration, you can see that on my youtube channel: Studio Lisa – – – – – – – – – #editorialillustration #illustration #editorial #editorialart #editorialdesign #concept #conceptual #conceptualart #conceptualdrawing #procreate #procreatedrawing #illustratie #artwork #llustrationart #illo #ilustracja #ilustración #illustratie #illustratrice #femaleillustrator #versatileart #versatileartist #studiolisa #womenwhodraw #illustagram #editorialartist #creativefreelancer #creative_journey #womenofillustration
