The Dalí Museum in St. Petersburg, Florida, recently presented an interactive experience that gives visitors an opportunity to “talk” with famous Surrealist artist Salvador Dalí. The experience, called “Ask Dalí,” was made possible using a replica of Dalí’s famous “Lobster Phone” and Artificial Intelligence.

When visitors pick up the lobster phone replica, they are greeted by an AI recreation of Dalí’s voice. They can ask him a range of questions, including why the clocks are melting in his masterpiece “The Persistence of Memory” or “What’s up with your mustache?” and they will receive an answer.

“For years, people have attempted to understand my work, trying to find meaning in the surreal, to make sense of the dreams of a historic genius,” digital version of Dalí can be heard saying in the promotional video. “But how can anyone possibly know what is inside the burning mind of Salvador Dalí? No! They simply cannot. They are mere mortal human beings. But now, I can tell you.”

According to the museum, the AI model behind Dalí’s voice was trained using the famous artist’s writings and archival audio, thanks to which it is capable of providing “dynamic and unpredictable answers.” Additionally, the AI voice sounds remarkably similar to Dalí’s voice, while his answers reflect his unique personality and sense of humor.

The “Ask Dalí” interactive experience is officially open and will remain part of The Dalí Museum’s offering for the foreseeable future.

Most LEGO enthusiasts have piles of old plastic bricks that are leftovers from various projects. Finding ideas to use them can be quite challenging, which is why a group of programmers built an app called Brickit.

Brickit is an artificial intelligence-powered app that helps you make new creations with old LEGOs. With the help of your smartphone camera, the app scans the entire pile of LEGO pieces you have at your disposal and identifies them. Then, it provides several ideas on how to use your bricks with detailed instructions.

“We love building, and we love tech, so we made Brickit — an app that scans jumbles of bricks and helps you turn them into starships, dragonflies, pineapples wearing sunglasses, and whatever else you can imagine,” the developers state.

The basic version of the Brickit app is free and available on iOS and Android smartphones. It can recognize around 100 most common LEGO bricks and comes with a database of more than 2,000 ideas. There is also a premium version that can recognize more than 1,600 different types of LEGO pieces.

The artist known as Str4ngeThing is back with a new Renaissance-themed project. This time, they collaborated with artificial intelligence to create Renaissance architecture-inspired iPhone cases.

Str4ngeThing previously captured the attention of the internet with various AI projects that included applying Renaissance style to fashion, footwear, jewelry, and even luggage.

Most of them took inspiration from the period’s architecture in a unique way, and it’s no difference with their designs for iPhone cases.

Some designs have a Renaissance building carved on the back, while others feature sculptures you would see on squares or inside churches and mansions.

The artist also made an intriguing variation of the series that saw them add LED candles to the cases in order to further highlight certain elements of the case.

“We believe that art is meant to be experienced in every aspect of life, and with these Renaissance iPhone cases, you can carry a true work of art with you wherever you go. It’s not just a phone case; it’s a gateway to the past, a testament to the power of artistic expression,” the artist shares about the project.

These iPhone cases are currently not available for purchase. But hopefully, they will soon become a reality because we really want one.

You don’t have to be a scientist to understand that color can help influence our mental wellbeing. While dark colors, like blue, black, and gray, are often equated with sadness and depression, bright colors like yellow and orange can promote happiness and optimism.

Known as chromotherapy, color therapy is based on the idea that color can help treat physical or mental health. The following artists might just inspire you to take a positive step forward!

Painted Mary

Known for her brightly colored paintings, prints, and textiles, Mary Finlayson (aka @painted_mary) will inspire you to take a more maximalist approach to interior design.

Originally from Vancouver, B.C., Finlayson earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Queen’s University, a Graduate Degree in Art Therapy from the Vancouver Art Therapy Institute, as well an Arts Education Degree from the University of British Columbia—so you know her work is well balanced. A spoonful of sugar, others might say.

Shawna X

Shawna X’s art will have your head spinning with colors. Mostly digital, her art also spans spatial and motion spaces, tackling subjects like cultural identity, the modern creative process, and social stereotypes.

But while her subject matter might be loaded, the art itself presents a psychedelic-like reality, filled with bright, neon colors that demand your attention.

Laci Jordan

Here to empower you, Laci Jordan’s digital art is very much in your face. Focused on powerful women of color, Jordan promotes cultural diversity through her work.

“I’m making the stuff you don’t see by the person you usually don’t see,” she writes on her website. Promoting visibility also means using bold color choices. Trust us, this is just the kind of content your feed craves.

People are usually afraid of the things they can’t see. This is one of the reasons why viruses and bacteria, both unseen by the naked eye, have always caused big panic among the human population. One artist is trying to change that by giving these viruses and bacteria visible representation in hopes that his works can help people understand them better.

Since 2004, visual artist Luke Jerram has been creating glass sculptures representing various viruses and bacteria as part of his ongoing Glass Microbiology project. Jerram’s works often correspond with current events, and so far, he has reproduced a number of viruses, including HIV, ZIKA, and most recently, COVID-19.

“Made to contemplate the global impact of each disease, the artworks are created as alternative representations of viruses to the artificially colored imagery received through the media,” Jerram shares on his website.

Jerram received significant recognition for his Glass Microbiology sculptures over the years. His works have not only proved to be a helpful tool for the scientific community but are also appreciated for their artistic value. Most of his creations are now in museums across the world or part of private art collections.

For those who cannot check out Jerram’s sculptures in person, here is more of them through the magic of Instagram.

James Nolan Gandy is a talented craftsman that uses his skills to create art. The way he does it is a bit unusual, as he actually makes things that make art.

Gandy’s most recent invention is a drawing machine that creates mesmerizing artworks. It draws complex patterns and shapes that look like they are a result of an elaborate algorithm. However, that’s not the case as the electric motor-powered machine is entirely analog.

While the machine is the one pressing pen on paper, Gandy actually determines what the artwork will look like. By making adjustments to the mechanical parts, he is able to set the speed of the machine and the outcome of the patterns. But Gandy’s contributions don’t end there.

When the machine is drawing multi-color pieces, each color must be applied separately. This means Gandy has to step in, pause the process, switch the colors, and then set the machine back in motion.

Gandy spent the majority of his adult life working in the custom furniture business and only became interested in metal and mechanics several years ago. After that, he started challenging himself with various demanding projects and has since crafted several drawing machines that create different types of art.

Keep scrolling to check out more artwork made by Gandy’s machines.

Viktorija O, better known as artistVIKdesign, first became popular, thanks to her drawing project created during the lockdown.  Every day, for 113 days, she decorated her wall with miniature drawings as a way to document her time in 2020, and the results are remarkable!

For Viktorija, decorating her wall was her way of “writing a diary”. The project started on 25th March 2020 and lasted for almost four months.

“After 113 days, the flat’s new tattoo was completed,” the artist shared in a statement for Bored Panda. “I’m not sure how long it will stay for, although I suspect that decision will belong to any future owners of the flat, who may enjoy ‘reading’ it first before the magnolia brush comes out!”

Black and blue acrylic paint was the medium she used to draw her masterpiece. Every evening she made daily “updates” to the wall, depicting her experiences during the UK’s lockdown, “be they new, sad, unexpected, or even just mundane”.

You can see the process of creating her masterpiece in the gallery below. You can also check out her Instagram account and Etsy store, where she sells the miniature pots she makes.

If you would have seen the works of Kansas-native painter and muralist Stan Herd in person, the chances are that you might not be overly impressed. When looked from the usual perspective, his land art seems like bunch of random things laid out on the ground. However, if you find a way to look at them from above, you’ll end up being amazed.

Herd has been creating large-scale land art, or earthworks as he likes to call it, for the past 40 years. He uses a number of natural materials like soil, grass, and wood, to shape massive patches of land into impressive artwork that look like they could have easily been painted with a huge brush.

Over the years, Herd had the opportunity to work all across the United States and in several countries worldwide including Australia, Brazil, China and Cuba. He also collaborated with a number of major companies, allowing the use of his work for marketing purposes but also aiming to send a message to the world.

Activism is a huge part of Herd’s creative process and he looks to use his works to” bring attention to a multitude of issues showcasing the environment, science, sustainable agriculture and the humanities which all connect on a common theme regarding the “human condition” in the world today. “

Austin-based painter and sculptor Vincent Salvo had an unusual artistic journey. That journey reflects in his intriguing works, especially the ones that feature colorful metal butterflies trying to escape the shackles of canvas and golden frames.

Salvo had the opportunity to make art his life calling when he was in high school, being offered a fine arts scholarship from a “prominent East Coast University”. But he decided to take a different path back then, choosing to focus on his skills for business and the engineering sciences. He started working at NASA and went on to have a successful entrepreneurial career. But despite this, he never left art completely.

While building his career, Salvo was doing art on the side and realized there was a strong interest in his works after collectors started inquiring about ways to acquire his pieces. This prompted him to dedicate more time to sculpting and painting.

While Salvo expresses his creative vision in various media, previously mentioned metal butterflies escaping frames and canvases are among his most recognizable works. According to the artist, these 3D sculptures “capture the subtleties and interplay of light and shadow to create and amplify the tension between simplicity and complexity.”

You can check out his works below.

The experience, called “Ask Dalí,” was made possible using a replica of Dalí’s famous “Lobster Phone” and Artificial Intelligence.

“For years, people have attempted to understand my work, trying to find meaning in the surreal, to make sense of the dreams of a historic genius,” digital version of Dalí can be heard saying in the promotional video. “But how can anyone possibly know what is inside the burning mind of Salvador Dalí?

You can check out more of his grand artworks below.
