]]>“Rescuing a dog can be one of the hardest, but most rewarding things you can ever do with your life,” admitted his owner, Bella, in an interview with helloBARK! Through her online platfor, she hopes to dispel the myths surrounding Bull Terriers, as well as encourage others to adopt instead of shop.
“Make sure you’re doing it for the right reasons,” she stresses, “dogs aren’t a toy, or a short term accessory, but a 10-15 year commitment that will require your full attention, love, and patience. Rescue dogs are so forgiving and loving, but can also be fragile. Be patient with them, and make sure they know you’re there to help them.”
According to Bella, though her family was hesitant at first, Baloo ended up being an incredibly socialized and intelligent dog. Specializes in napping all day, burping, and farting simultaneously, he’s also a huge goofball. “I was so lucky to have found my perfect dog and soulmate at a shelter right down the road!” says Bella.

I do all the repeat patterns digitally in Photoshop or Illustrator.”
“I love creating animal characters,” she adds. “In my body of work, they are mostly coming from a woodland environment—that is because I draw things that are close to me and I can see in person if I am lucky,” she notes.
Based in Ljubljana, Slovenia, her artwork is featured on products like enamel pins, notebooks, coloring books, notepads, and greeting cards, with her clients including brands like Papyrus, Little Blue Nest, Craft Consortium, Lilipinso, and Lake Coloring. Besides commercial work, Stajner enjoys self-initiating projects where she collaborates with other artists, experiments, and challenge herself further.
“The world around me inspires me very much,” says Stajner. “While I work, I love to stylize them, make them more simple and less realistic. But then I want to add so many details that they appear alive again. Like they actually exist somewhere in the world. Oh, what a happy place that would be.”
A happy place it is.

Her products might feature Spike, her Hungarian Vizsla, or Milo a rescue Vizsla cross who joined the pack last year after being rescued from the streets of Cyprus. “As a result, we want to give a little back to help other gingers find loving homes too,” she writes.
Her business was founded in 2017 after Marianne crowdfunded and self-published a children’s book featuring illustrations of Spike. Her drawings became so popular she decided to create lots more cards and personalized gifts for dog lovers. Now, Marianne hand prints her designs herself on mugs, bags, cushion covers, and prints.
“The beauty of being a creative today is that I really can personally connect with my customers and design things using their feedback and ideas,” she shared with the Printed blog. “I love that I am part of a global pack of dog lovers which the internet and social media has opened up. As a bit of a late starter, I am 47 and solo parent my kids, working in the creative industry from home with an online business has been completely accessible.”

]]>In an interview with Hello Bark! his owner described the first time he’s laid eyes on him. “I was ready for a small dog, and was visiting shelters almost every day to find one that was a good fit,” he recalled. “One morning, I walked into a shelter and Einstein had been rescued the night before – there he was, staring up at me. I saw that he was a Havanese and I instantly knew he was my dog. I never expected to find a Havanese in a shelter, but it opened my eyes to the variety of pups who can be rescued the same way.”
A love story followed suit, and the two haven’t separated ever since. “If Einstein could only do one thing for the rest of his life, it would be sitting in my lap kissing my face,” says his owner. “He is loyal almost to a fault, and attached to my heels wherever we go.”
Einstein is also described as a very gentle and loving pup. “One of my favorites is when a close friend brought her newborn to meet us,” his owner shared a sweet memory of Einstein. “I wasn’t sure how Einstein would do with the baby, but he was incredibly sweet and gentle with her. It was wonderful to see how caring he was with this tiny baby, and over the years their bond has gotten stronger and stronger.”

]]>His owners, Nathanial Green and Elliot Green, two visual artists, have adopted him in 2017 at the Lynchburg Humane Society on their “Free Cat Friday.” “The lady who had shown us around eventually noticed us indecisively meandering,” Elliot Green recalled in an interview with Bored Panda. “She stopped to tell us that she had a favorite, but that he had some issues and was sick. She took us to the medical wing to show us this tiny kitten who was recovering from a head cold.”
He admits that when he was told that the kitten was blind he was a bit worried. “As a full-time student also working two jobs, I was afraid that I wouldn’t be able to provide Merlin with the attention he needed,” he explained. “As soon as I got to hold him, I think it was pretty obvious that he was perfect.”
The Greens have since curated a delightfully aesthetic Instagram page for Merlin, showcasing his undeniable beauty. They also have buzzing Twitter accounts where they share about his day-to-day.
“Honestly, we forget that he has blind eyes,” they say. “When we first moved to our apartment, he definitely had trouble navigating, but he learns quickly and really knows how to own the space. His greatest recurring struggle is from our coffee table’s glass edges: Every now and then, he’ll jump or walk into it, but we think he’s learned. All he really cares about is where the food is and how far away it is from his dads.”

He was not in a shelter or rescue, but needed a special kind of home due to his tiny size. The only puppy in his litter, when he was born his fur was dark brown and slowly changed color over the first two years of his life.
Named after the dragon from Harry Potter, the American mathematician and philosopher Norbert Wiener, and Saint Norbert of Xanten – little Norbert has a lot to live up to. His special gift? Making people smile. With a recent DNA test showing he is part Chihuahua part Small Poodle, he’s truly one-of-a-kind!
A trained therapy dog, Norbert currently volunteers at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and by special request. A special pooch and one worth following on Instagram.
