Nick Fabbri and Terysa Vanderloo had it all: Nick was a dentist, and Terysa was a paramedic. They were living in London with their two cats and seemed happy with their life.

But there was more to their story. Nick and Terysa weren’t really happy with their path in life. They were working long hours and spending their evening at home in front of the TV. They wanted to try something new–to travel and see the world–but they didn’t know how or where to start.

Then, in 2007, Nick bought his first boat and was introduced to the sailing community. Suddenly, the dream of seeing the world seemed possible. He set himself a goal–to ditch his old way of life and live on his boat full-time.  Nick and Terysa started working toward that goal, and in 2009 they bought their yacht, which they named Ruby Rose. They spent a year preparing it for travel, and then they set sails and left city life behind for good.

They’ve been sailing for the past four years, visiting exotic destinations and enjoying their new, relaxed and disconnected routine. It’s not always easy–they usually have only each other for company, and life on a boat can be challenging–but they wouldn’t trade their new, free lifestyle for anything in the world.

Lee was your typical Canadian university graduate, about to enter adult life and work 40 hours a week. Then, one visit to Australia changed her life forever.

On a post-university trip to Australia, Lee met Max, a local paramedic, and adventurer. They immediately clicked and decided to go backpacking together for 5 weeks. When the trip came to an end, they both knew they were destined to spend their lives together and travel the world.

It was finally time for Lee to go back home to Canada, and Max decided to join her. They knew it was just another stop on their journey, not their final destination, but they had to work on a plan. They decided to join the ever-growing movement of “van lifers”, adventurers who travel the world in a van. That bought an old used van for 10k Canadian dollars and spent another 11K dollar on renovations. It took a whole year to get the van ready for the road.

Once the van was ready, they packed their few belongings, took their Australian Shepherd Occy and hit the road. So far they’re traveled across Canada, spent a few months in the US, then traveled through Mexico for six months. They’ve traveled through South America, and are now back in the States for another tour!

Life in a van isn’t all good all the time. It’s crowded, you have to think about every single purchase, and traveling can get pretty hectic. Max and Lee aren’t shy about that – they share their dark moments with their fans, as well as the nice ones. But at the end of the day, it seems to work for them. Living with less stuff and not being held down by a 9-5 work, mortgages and bills can be freeing – and freedom is just what they’re about.

I’ve always been the kind of person who loves to share. Ever since vowing that I would always “share and be a friend” as a little girl in sparks (Canadian girl guides) I stuck to that promise. If you ask me how I’m doing, I’m likely to give you a long winded answer so if you weren’t actually looking for a conversation you’d be asking the wrong person. Sharing my life and desire for adventure with Max is how we’ve come to live in a van and travel the entire Americas. Sharing my life with you is how we have been able to inspire travel, help out deserving people and learn so much about ourselves. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ However, there is something that I haven’t shared lately and it’s because I have found it so incredibly hard to talk about. I have been struggling with my own insecurities and uncertainties and it has been causing me feelings of anxiety and depression. I feel like I’m lying to you all when I share a moment of me when I’m happy since there are many other moments when I am anxious or depressed. It has been very confusing to navigate through and there have been many moments where I’d rather disappear forever than deal with these emotions. It has been especially hard to show up in front of a camera in this state of mind which is one of the reasons we have taken a step back. Max has been my biggest supporter through all of this as well as my family and close friends. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I have spent a lot of time going inwards, meditating and journaling and today I am feeling comfortable to share this as I am finally, for the first time in months feeling more like myself again. The reason I want to open up with you on THIS platform is because there has been many times where I have compared my self online asking why everyone else’s life looks so easy and or “perfect” and I am here struggling. So just remember, everyone is on their own journey and moving at their own pace through this world ☀✌🏼💛

Imagine having a career, traveling the world, filming different destinations, and getting into all sorts of adventures – with your brother. Well, Alex and Marco don’t have to imagine – they’re living that life.

Alex and Marko, AKA the Vagabrothers, have travel in their blood. Their parents are travelers, they have dual citizenship, and they’ve always wanted to see the world.

So after College, when Marko had an opportunity to work in finance in India, he took it without hesitation. But then something happened – a series of terrorist attacks devastated the community he was living in, and he decided that his life’s mission was to promote communication and understanding between cultures.

A while later, when Alex graduated from college, the two brothers traveled together to Spain and then to the Basque Country where they worked as English teachers and trying to break through as adventure travelers and filmmakers. Then, just two weeks before Marko’s visa was about to expire, they heard about a travel film contest, where the first prize was $50,000! They used the rest of their time to write and shoot their short film and submitted it. A few weeks later they got the good news – they won first place!

Alex and Marko knew exactly what to do with the money – they used it to buy equipment and create their new YouTube channel, The Vagabrothers. Ever since, they’ve been traveling the world together, getting to know new cultures, and having adventures together every day.

A decade ago, Jodi Ettenberg was a big-shot corporate lawyer on her way to the top. Then, she quit her job and traveled to Siberia.

Jodi was living the life many parents wish for their kids: she graduated from college with great marks, got a law degree, and was working as a corporate lawyer for six years. She basically had it all – a fulfilling career, a stable income, and a bright future ahead of her. But it wasn’t what she wanted – well, it wasn’t all she wanted. There’d been an itch she was dying to scratch for years – and finally, she decided to do something about it.

Other than her interest in law, Jodi had always been fascinated by travel. In high school, she saw a documentary about trans-Siberian trains and had been longing to travel the world for a year ever since. So, after six years in corporate law, she finally decided to make a change and spend a year traveling. To keep her mom informed, she also started a blog, Legal Nomads.

But the ex-lawyer’s adventures interested more than just her mom, and soon she became a full-time traveler. Today, she’s still traveling the world. getting to know different cultures and having the time of her life. Doing legal work was great – but for Jodi, traveling is her real calling.

10 YEARS OF LEGAL NOMADS, IN PHOTOS Over the years, I had many opportunities to run Legal Nomads differently. I could have added ads. Made much shorter posts. Taken more press trips. Opened the blog up to sponsored links or guest writing. As travel blogging evolved, so too did the ways to make money. But I decided to write and run the business in ways that would resonate with my soul, my own path through the messy brambles of entrepreneurship. My hypothesis was simple: if I thought my readers were the cat’s pyjamas, then obviously I was writing as my true self. Writing in a true voice was important. Presenting a glimmering version of yourself that doesn’t feel real is an easy path to discontent. You can follow your passion all you want, but if you’re not expressing it authentically, in a way that is indisputably you, the gap will catch up with you. The space between who you are and who you express yourself to be exists in varying degrees. But if it’s too large, especially if your work involves sharing your thoughts creatively, the disparity can easily engulf you. The business philosophy over the years has been simple. Write how you’d want to read, learn as much as you can each day, listen very carefully to what readers tell you, and create the products they feel they need or want in their lives. I’m going share my favourite pictures from the last 10 years of #LegalNomads here on Insta, each one featured in the 10 years of Legal Nomads post in my profile. Just a few years ago, Jack Morrison was a confused teen from Manchester, England, with very little idea about what he was going to do with his life. Today he’s a world traveler with over 2 million followers on Instagram.

About a decade ago, Jack graduated from high school and had to decide what to do with his life. Most of his friends went on to get their university degrees, but Jack knew it wasn’t for him. He needed to tread his own path.

At first, things were hard. Skipping college was a good personal decision – not everybody can fit into the strict, structured routine of higher education – but there aren’t a lot of prospects for young people without a university education. He spent years working dead-end jobs, the last of which was a six-year stint at carpet cleaning. Something had to change.

In 2012, he packed a bag and bought a one-way ticket to Bangkok and spent the next six years living out of a backpack. These were the early days of Instagram when only a handful of people were documenting their travels. Jack learned about this new platform and immediately started using it to share moments of his travels. He slowly gathered a following that has allowed him to stay on the road – and he hasn’t come back home yet.

Today Jack lives in Bali with his girlfriend and travels the world in search of adventure. His journey is as beautiful as it is inspiring – and thanks to social media, we get to be a part of it too.

For our parents, a stable adult life meant owning their own house by the age of 30. But today, owning your own three-bedroom, two-bathroom house is a farfetched fantasy for most people. Houses are expensive, they chain you down, and they aren’t too environmentally-friendly. Some folks aren’t ready to accept this reality as the only possibility. Their solution? Tiny houses.

The tiny house movement has been trending in the past couple of years. Tiny house owners live in houses of about 300 square feet, that they either build themselves or commission from professional tiny house construction companies. Tiny houses can be immobile, or they can have wheels; They can be made with traditional materials such as wood or bricks, or they can be made from recycled materials such as old shipping containers, boats, and cars. Basically, if it has four walls and a roof- it can be a tiny house.

Tiny house owners live their lives free. They don’t have a mortgage to pay, they can travel the country if their house is on wheels, and they can sometimes even generate their own electricity with solar panels and gather rainwaters in a tank, thus avoiding bills – and unnecessary emissions.

Tiny houses may not be for everyone, but they sure are an interesting answer to our world’s problems. And who knows, maybe in the future we’ll all downsize to small, mobile, self-sufficient spaces.

The costs of living all around the world seem to be rising constantly, and our parent’s lifestyle – buying a house, saving a bit each month – feels like a fantasy for many of us. But this Youtuber cracked the code – and is now living a free, happy, and healthy life – in her van.

Janelle Eliana used to be just a regular young person, with a regular young person’s troubles. She wasn’t making enough money in a job she didn’t like, and life was weighing her down. But instead of grinding her teeth and keeping on, she ditched it all for a life as a traveler. She bought an old van, fixed it up, and started traveling across the States. On a whim, she launched a YouTube channel, hoping to share her journey with her friend.

That’s when things started going wild. One of her very first videos went viral overnight, and in about two months, she gained over one million subscribers. That’s when she went from being the girl with the van to a YouTube star.

Today, Janelle is still living her van life and sharing her journey with her fans. Her lifestyle might not be for everyone, but the lessons she teaches is one we can all learn – if the life you’re living makes you unhappy, don’t be afraid to get up and do something about it.

Just a few years ago, Jack Morrison was a confused teen from Manchester, England, with very little idea about what he was going to do with his life. Today he’s a world traveler with over 2 million followers on Instagram.
