An 87-year-old man from Pennsylvania named Doug Turner recently went viral for the sweetest possible reason. Turner decided to organize a party for his neighbors and hand-delivered the invites with the promise that the event would run from “4 p.m. until the cops arrive.”
Turner gained exposure on social media thanks to one of the neighbors he invited, TikTok creator Michelle Hernandez.
Hernandez, who is new to the neighborhood, initially shared the details about the invite in a video posted on TikTok in January.
After her first video gained attention on social media, Hernandez followed it up with another clip that showed Turner’s delivery of the party invite.
The second video racked up more than two million views and made Turner a proper internet sensation. People from all over the world became interested in the party and even caught the attention of singer Michael Buble, who sent Turner some whiskey for the occasion.
The party ended up taking place on February 15, with the majority of invited people deciding to attend. It was a smashing success according to Turner.
“It was a rager, yeah,” Turner said in an interview with Today. “We started at 4 p.m. and most of the 24 people invited showed up and we just ate food and drank beer and even snuck into my whiskey stash and drank that. It was pretty wild, it lasted until midnight.”
Hernandez later shared some footage from the party on her TikTok.
