Swedish Artist Creates Mashups of Horror Movies and Cartoons

Daniel Björk is a talented Swedish artist who creates one-of-a-kind illustrations that represent mashups between horror movies and cartoons from the ’80s and ’90s.

Björk’s works are presented in the form of comic book covers and bring together Friday the 13th franchise with Rugrats, Texas Chainsaw Massacre with Charlie Brown, Little Mermaid with Beetlejuice, and much more. While each work oozes horror, violence, and gore, they also contain all sorts of comedic bits and funny references.

For example, one of Björk’s illustrations shows the titular characters from Cartoon Network’s animated hit Ed, Edd n Eddy transformed into Pinhead, the villain from the Hellraiser movies. The “comic book” is fittingly titled PinhEd, PinhEdd n PinhEddy.

Björk has been an avid fan of horror movies since childhood but also enjoyed watching Saturday morning cartoon while growing up in the ’80s and ’90s. He started bringing together these two seemingly conflicting interest in his drawings early on and it eventually became his passion.

Nowadays, Björk has a large social media following thanks to his mashups while also selling T-shirts and various other items with his works through his brand Kick Punch. He also attracted the attention of Netflix, which recruited him for an illustration based on their hit series Stranger Things.
