Sometimes you have to leave one dream behind to chase another, and Roxana Mihailescu is doing just that! Instead of pursuing a career in law after getting her degree, she decided to embark on an adventure of a lifetime and is now sharing her travel adventures under the moniker Rox Adventures.
Mihailescu is a travel blogger from Romania, who fell in love with traveling during family trips as a child. She still fondly remembers her first trip to Turkey at the age of eight, when she was starstruck exploring old buildings, mosques, and crowded bazaars with her dad – and she wanted this feeling to last forever.
She decided to study law after finishing high school, but her sense of wanderlust was stronger. Volunteering with AIESEC in China and Egypt was a turning point, and she decided to keep traveling solo after getting her law degree.
“In 2019 I was in college, a burnt-out law student with not much of an idea of what I wanted from life. I just knew I had this strong desire to see the world, but I thought I needed to have a ‘real job’ to be validated by society. Now I know that’s not true, but I also know that Law school built my strong personality,” she wrote on her Instagram.
Mihailescu is now followed by over 100,000 people on Instagram and 70,000 more on TikTok, and she’s using her platform to help other young women explore the world on their own without spending a fortune.
