Artist Cartoonizes Classic Books For Those Who Didn’t Read Them

John Atkinson is an artist and the creator of Wrong Hands, a series of cartoons inspired by the written word. His love for art started in his early years, so it wasn’t unexpected that he would follow this path as an adult, as well. He studied Fine Art at University, however, in the end, he took up graphic design.

“Cartooning is a great way to extract the silliness bottled up in my head,” the artist told Bored Panda in an interview. “Humor is subjective so it’s always interesting to read other people’s reactions to my work.”

According to Atkinson, the true inspiration behind his project was a survey that reveled the truth about people reading books.

“I thought it might be a funny idea to help everyone out and provide ‘tweet-sized’ synopses of these classic books suitable for dinner parties or when you’re cornered at a function,” he added. “They’re not intended to replace reading the actual book and I’m quick to tell students not to use them as book reports unless they want a solid D- or an F.”
