Streetware brand Avavav and apparel giant Adidas recently teamed up for a unique reimagination of Adidas’ iconic Superstar model. The release features Superstar sneakers with detachable rubber shell toes.
The idea is that you can leave the rubber shell toes on to get perplexed looks from the crowds while also having an emergency purse that can fit multiple smaller items.
According to the Avavav, the model is crafted “in full-grain leather with a rubber midsole, rubber outsole, and rubber shell toes.” You can also fit it on other shoes thanks to the adjustable strap.
These quirky sneakers come in red and black variants and are available at Avavav’s online webshop for a price of $280. The price includes both the base sneakers and detachable rubber shell toes.
The release was inspired by Avavav’s finger shoes, which were a fashion hit several years ago.
The reactions to Avavav and Adidas’ collaboration were mixed. While some loved it, others thought that it must be some kind of joke.
