Artist Carves Mountains and Landscapes in Books and it’s Incredible

For many years now, Guy Laramée has been using old books to create incredible works of art. He transforms vintage tomes into amazing landscapes including mountains, volcanoes, caves and other sceneries.

One of his favourite materials are bound stacks of old dictionaries and encyclopedias which he carves his artworks using oil paints, inks, adhesives, pigments and dry pastels, crayons, and beeswax. His recent works incorporates the traditional book organizers such as metal bookends, wood stands, and box set containers, as fundamental part of the sculptures. His work is featured in the group exhibition “Unbound” at TwoRivers Gallery in Prince George, British Columbia until March 31, 2019.
