Artist Draws Her Favorite Places In New York City

Jessica Fimbel Willis is a Boston-based graphic designer who loves hand-lettering, quirky illustration, food photography, and a passion for combining digital and studio art.

In October 2018, she moved out of New York City to have more space and to save money. “Since moving, I have been seriously missing it so I drew all my favorite places. Everyone has their own version of NYC, and this was/is mine,” she wrote on Bored Panda.

She started the #DrawMyNYC series with East Harlem Bottling Co, her favorite neighborhood bar in East Harlem.

“This place opened a few years ago and my husband and I have shared so many incredible memories here. We even planned our wedding right at the bar!” she wrote on Instagram.

Three months ago, @willisfilm and I packed up our lives and moved out of NYC. We finally landed in Boston about a month ago, but we have been reminiscing about some of our favorite places in New York. To help with my “home-sickness” I decided to start a series of illustrations called #DrawMyNYC where I will share some of my favorite places. Hope you enjoy! . I’ve been so excited to post this New York gem for my #DrawMyNYC series. Ladies and gentlemen, I present my favorite bar, Professor Thom’s. I fell in love with @professorthoms the first time I walked in – it’s a New Englander’s haven in the middle of New York City. Filled with @patriots and @redsox memorabilia and rowdy fans, it brought me right home. . More importantly, this bar is the reason I met my amazing husband @willisfilm. We first met on @okcupid and we realized instantly that we both had the same favorite bar, Thom’s, so we met there to watch a game together. We hit it off immediately and through the years have shared many, many beers there watching the Patriots kick some ass ❤️ Five years later, we had our going away party at this same bar. It was bittersweet, but we have had so many incredible memories there. Thank you @professorthoms for making my life complete 🍻
