]]>Bowditch lives in Richmond, Virginia, where she creates moody and breathtaking landscape paintings that depict different phases of the sky throughout the day. She is experimenting with various painting techniques and tools in order to show how the sky and light change the atmosphere of the landscape.
“I am interested in the physicality of paint and the infinite ways in which it can be applied to a surface,” the artist explained. “Of great fascination to me is the sky—both its subtle, transitory qualities and its ability to alter the landscape. Much of my work is focused on the atmospheric relationship between the sky and the attendant land and sea.”
Aside from painting, Bowditch is also teaching courses in drawing and painting at John Tyler Community College in Virginia.

]]>In one of these projects—that started off as an experiment with string—Pot made intricate face masks only by stitching a bunch of colored ropes together. The artist admitted he was actually trying to use these ropes to make a rug but was unsuccessful in his attempts.
“One day, an assistant asked me what I was making. I playfully held a piece to my face and said, ‘A carpet.’ Seeing this, my assistant suggested that I make a mask instead, so I did. In the end, it turned out to be the most powerful application for the material,“ the artist said in an interview with Azure Magazine.
Pot has created around 250 masks so far, and they’ve been displayed in his exhibitions around the world. The unusual technique, vibrant colors and interesting facial features that appear on these masks are what make them so special and interesting.

]]>Tristan’s mom told Bored Panda that her son took up this hobby upon seeing his sister painting one day. At first, she felt awkward when her son, who’s having difficulty with motor skills, asked if he could also paint. But then she realized that Tristan was capable of doing anything, but only in a different way.
This very next day this talented boy got his first acrylic colors and he immediately started “splashing, dripping and spraying the pictures”, as his mother said. “For Tristan as an autistic child, creating these paintings in his own unique style and for us to enjoy, is priceless and we believe very therapeutic for him. His movements and actions when he is expressing himself and his thoughts through his art are really quite magical.”
The proud parents are now sharing Tristan’s art with the world to show how special he is. They also want to encourage other people who have children with special needs to give them the opportunity to express themselves.

]]>Foreman lives in Pembrokeshire, Wales, home to many breathtaking beaches, although the artist claims he’s visited only half of them. Every time he goes to the beach, Foreman spends at least four hours there in order to create his stunning arrangements.
“There are so many ways of working with stone; the color, the size, the shape the angle it is placed, the direction it faces, endless possibilities. Although stone isn’t my only material of choice, it is currently my favorite as it presents so many different opportunities,” Foreman said in an interview with My Modern Met.
His stone art is exceptionally beautiful, but also short-lived. At the end of the day, each of his creations is washed by the tide and every stone goes back to where it came from. The artist says this doesn’t bother him at all – it makes his art even more special.

]]>The bakery recently updated their menu and made it cuter by offering Corgi butt-shaped bread buns to its clients. You’ve probably seen, if not in person then at least on photos, how cute these dogs look from behind, especially when they stretch out their legs behind them.
Well, Utiwapayna bakery was so moved by this breed’s cuteness, that they turned it into an interesting business idea. Not only did they perfectly capture Corgi’s shapely buns with the addition of their cute short legs and signature bobtail, but the buns also look very tasty! They’re filled with jam or custard, which makes them pretty much perfect!
This is not the first time for Utiwapayna bakery to make a creative move like this. They’ve been selling puppy-shaped bread loaves and cat-shaped buns for years now. But considering the fact that Corgis are very popular in Japan, we can only guess that this is going to be their most popular baked good so far. So if you ever happen to be in Sapporo, Japan, stop by for a cute and delicious bite of these unusual buns.

]]>Over the past decade, this LA-based artist has created dozens of cat cartoons that are both funny and smart. Inspiration for all of these comics was his cat, Tiger.
“My cat, the Tiger, has inspired me in many ways. She motivates me to be lazy, encourages me to swipe at random objects, and clean myself daily (I opt for a shower rather than licking myself…thankfully),” the artist wrote for Bored Panda.
Fakes has been drawing his entire life and he sold his first cartoon in fifth grade. His edgy humor earned him collaborations with big companies Red Bull, Disney, Scholastic, and Warner Bros. Still, his drawings based on real situations and adventures of cats are our favorites.

]]>Murray has had chronic migraines for over twenty years of her life, and her vibrant and colorful paintings can help us understand how she sees the world in these moments.
“My paintings have been proof to myself of what I experience during an attack, and despite the pain, I’ve made the choice to see the good, weird, and beautiful,” Murray said to My Modern Met. “I began making paintings to show the incredible beauty that accompanies this strange neurological condition, as I have always been fascinated at the neurobiology behind the imagery I see.”
You’ll notice that many of her paintings depict wooded forests, and this is because the artist often seeks refuge in forests, in order to avoid strong light.

]]>Dion posted her art on Bored Panda and shared that she’s always been interested in nature and animals and that’s why she decided to study ecology. Drawing has been her hobby ever since she was a little girl, although she claims she was never really very good at it.
Nevertheless, everything changed when she became more serious about drawing and painting and discovered watercolor. Dion started posting her artwork online and decided to turn this into a business when she got positive feedback. Now she sells her watercolor pet portraits worldwide.
“For me, this is the perfect job, but the thing I love most about it is when people see their pet’s portrait for the first time, and it makes them so happy,” the artist said.
“My style has evolved throughout these years to achieve what I realize today: semi-realistic illustrations in a soft and rounded style full of life thanks to bright colors, combining watercolors and colored pencils, always linked to the animal world and Nature.”

“I grew up moving from one city to another, and the ethnic and cultural diversity I experienced and witnessed became an essential part of my identity and inspiration,” the artist talked about his inspiration with Life’s Prism. Jazz, hip-hop, and graffiti also had a major influence on Koo’s art and artistic style.
“I think what’s more important than my message is what people feel when they see my art. I love to hear about their own interpretations and what kind of connection they draw between my art and their experiences of life.”

]]>This self-taught painter and illustrator created surreal paintings that depict sharks swimming in the air, roaming through snowy landscapes and green forests. In an interview with Colossal, Austin says he’s always been fascinated by the vast elusiveness of the ocean and he wants to help people understand it better through his art. “As of lately, the shark is one of the most feared things on the planet and I’d like to help change that perspective through my work,” he said.
In order to create these magnificent works of art, the painter needs a lot of time to prepare and do research on the subject.
“I begin with a lot of reference photo material research, followed by a digital mock-up. Afterward, I sketch on paper, then paint to a surface,” Austin described his work process.
