It’s never too late to discover your artistic passion, and Courtney of Big Bloom Energy is a case in point. After years of putting her artistic aspirations aside, she finally decided to embrace them after finding her true calling in pressed flower art.
Big Bloom Energy was founded by Courtney, a self-taught artist based in Oklahoma. She always enjoyed art but never took any classes or tried to pursue it professionally – until pressed flowers came along. Courtney decided to explore this art form after noticing she didn’t have any hobbies that brought her joy during a therapy session, while trying to combat stress and anxiety in her daily life.
Pressed flower art that she discovered on Pinterest inspired her to start making her own, but she wanted to make her mark and create pieces that spark curiosity and add joy to the little moments of time.
“The challenge sparked a lot of creativity. I now have a style. I love leaving negative space around the piece, between it and the frame. I find myself layering petals instead of simply filling up the space. The texture and dimension that adds, are what completes a piece in my eyes,” she explains on her official website.
In addition to pressing and preserving flowers, Courtney enjoys transforming them into the most incredible artworks. She loves arranging flowers into all sorts of different things, but most of them are inspired by nature, taking the shape of dinosaurs, butterflies, and birds.
