Christine Rogers Will Make You See Beachcombing in a New Light

Tiny treasures are scattered all around seashores if you’re curious enough to look for them—and Christine Rogers certainly is. The self-proclaimed hoarder of slaty junk, Rogers became a true sensation on social media when she started sharing her beachcombing finds with the world.

Rogers is an artist based on Canada’s East Coast, who found her true calling when she founded the Saltyjunk Studio. She discovered countless maritime treasures while exploring the rugged shores of Newfoundland and the beaches of Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia, and decided to transform them into works of art.

The coast has always been an integral part of Rogers’ life, and she spent countless hours on her dad’s lobster fishing boat as a child. She felt at home while surrounded by the sound of waves and seagulls and the smell of salty air, and her love for the Canadian shores only grew as the years went by.

She became a “chronic collector” of the fragments of the sea, including seashells, snails, sea urchins, crab claws, and so much more. Even when she’s looking for something specific, she tries to keep an open mind and collect anything that catches her eye. After gathering the tiny treasures, she enjoys breathing a new life into her beachcombing finds by carefully arranging them into stunning works of art.
