Geology and Art Meet to Create Mesmerizing Wooden Pieces

Amanda Tyburski describes herself as a wood artist who studied both Geology and Art in college, and whilst doing her woodworking masterpieces, she was practicing geology, as well.

While browsing through her Instagram gallery you can see beautiful mountains, sharks, dinosaurs, birds, scorpions, and other wild creatures. One of her latest projects is called Harmony and is a 30” diameter with 90 ounces of epoxy.

“I use all different kinds of mediums for my work. For this piece, I have taken a solid wooden tabletop and hand-chiseled the whole piece to create the mountains. I then hand-painted the sharks and rays then layered the piece with epoxy. Every inch of the piece is 100% hand-chiseled (no power tools) and the creatures are hand-painted,” the artist revealed on Bored Panda and added that she accepts commissions and has already done an angel wing for a client.

You can find her studio just outside Ann Arbor, Michigan, or you can check out her social media accounts where she shares images of her creations.
