HBO has quietly removed the errant coffee cup on Game of Thrones’ episode titled “The Last of the Starks.”
The network acknowledged the blunder after fans freaked out when they saw the cup on a table in front of Daenerys Targaryen. “The latte that appeared in the episode was a mistake. Daenerys had ordered an herbal tea,” HBO said in a statement.
“I can’t believe it,” executive producer Bernadette Caulfield told WYNC. “Our on-set prop people and decorators are so on it one thousand percent. I just honestly can’t, I’m like, is that really? Because nowadays you can’t believe what you see because people can put things into a photo that really doesn’t exist. But I guess maybe it was there, I’m not sure. But, yeah. We’re sorry!”
Now, the streaming version of the GOT episode available on HBO Now and HBO Go had removed the coffee cup from the scene. According to Variety, a rep for HBO confirmed that it was already deleted and the future airings of the episode would be the updated version.
