Designer and illustrator, Sonelle van der Merwe, is the mastermind behind project Mugshots. The Durban-based, South African illustrator creates images of mugs inspired by pop culture.
“I’m inspired by pop culture and the many symbols and icons in our day-to-day lives,” van der Merwe shared with Bored Panda. “For me, the design should enhance the mundane, and what could be more ordinary than something most of us hold in our hands every day – the humble coffee mug? I’ve combined form, function, and a good dose of crazy to bring these to life.”
