Instagram is home to many amazing creators who focus on DIY content, but no one is doing it like Duygu Turgut Gökpınar. She’s a Turkish DIY projects developer, craft enthusiast, and educator, who’ll convince you there’s nothing you can’t make on your own if you put your mind to it.
Gökpınar’s journey as a content creator kicked off in 2015 when she started sharing her DIY ideas with the world on her YouTube channel. She initially saw this as a fun way to express herself creatively but eventually became one of the pioneers of the “do it yourself” movement in Turkey, with over 380,000 Instagram followers under her belt.
Gökpınar used to work as a teacher before finding viral fame with her DIY content, and her background as an educator significantly shaped her approach to everything she does now.
“For four years, I wore two hats – I balanced the roles of teacher and content creator, finding fulfillment in both realms. Yet, a growing desire to fully immerse myself in the world of creativity led to a bold decision – leaving behind my teaching career to pursue my dreams,” she recalled on her official website.
In addition to finding viral fame with her DIY videos, Gökpınar has a passion for punch embroidery. She wrote a book called Modern Punch Embroidery in 2021 and started her own punch needle brand Dutugu later that year.
